Anybody play on or own an AMF table? Thinking of getting an 8 footer for the home room.

one of the local pool rooms have 6 9 foot Amf tables... they play great and i cant complain... they are somewhat shimmed up and the "action table" plays pretty close to a diamond table... i have no complaints about them... but thats my oppinion...

Before the Kim Steel, I had a 9' AMF (Grand Prix I think the model is called). Anyway, it is a near prefect copy of a Gold Crown and played plenty well. I was very happy with it for the $$$...about a grand less than a GC.

My one gripe about the table is the veneer on top of the rails is pretty thin. Lauching a cue ball on the break would usually result in a dime-sized ding in the rail top (especially if you hit the edge where it meets the cushion).

The stock pockets were buckets, but I used 1/4" thick AMF shims to get down to a 4-1/2" pocket. Those are not your normal shim...they only come from AMF I'm told.

There's an AMF at Snookers in RI that is really nice, but it's a 9'. Only non brunswick in the place and it's my favorite table. The goldcrowns play well also, as they always do.

i used to sell Brunswick, Olhausen and AMF. dont buy AMF, plain and simple. the quality compared to Brunswick and Olhausen is pretty significant.

i own an AMF Playmaster 8 ft .i bought used but i like it alot , no veneer solid wood althe way around no stain just clear laquer or varnish plays great and looks great ,wish i could sell for a goldcrown lol ,btw its heavy
