I live in an area with a lot of amish. My amish neighbor actually does a lot of wood working for me. He's built my banister railing, cherry bed, and is currently working on some end stands. I asked him a few weeks ago if he new anyone who could build me a cue case. He sent me to a friend of his and after about an hour explaining to him what I wanted he had plans of building me a case. He had no clue what pool was but he thought that he had built some leather backings on some pockets for a similar game before. He told me he would have it done by Christmas and after 2 weeks he has a quite a bit done. The actual case is much better than the photos show. I am very happy with his progress so far considering he has never seen a cue case before. When it is totally finished I will provide pics.

Man, that is what it is all about right there. It is a special thing when two cultures collide and something positive comes of it.

I want to see pictures of the finished product and I bet it turns out great. Heck, I may even send you funds to have one made for myself.

Not plain enough, John Book....seriously though it looks like it will be a very nice case.

Introducing pool to the Amish.. somewhere, someone is getting "Munsoned"..

Actually a cool case. Will no doubt be hand made, and unarguably hand crafted.

I probably should have clarified that this was going to be a leather 3x6. Most amish have a niche. My neighbor works on furniture so I asked him for someone that works with leather. The guy he sent me to works strictly with leather (belts, saddles, whips, etc..)

I am sure that if an Amish person makes it then it will be SOLID.

I'm on the canadian border an hour north of Watertown. I also wanted to add that he was going to buy the tubes for the 3x6 but I took the guts out of my old case to make it a little easier for him.

I agree. This is pretty cool...curious to see the end result.

My neighbor and I talk about pool occasionally. He said that he actually played a game before but I would guess that he is in his late 40's to early 50's. He also said that he won the game so he is the only guy I know who has never lost ha ha. The guy making my cue case is quite young. I would guess that he is in his early 20's. When he was showing me tooling designs on some of the belts that he makes he said that that my case would be better than his belts because he's gotten better since they were made.

If you look at the first photo you can just catch the ends of the tubes from my old case. I believe it was a Vincitore.

Exactly where I grew up. Grew up close to Ogdensburg. Beautiful country, just no jobs. That's going to be a gorgeous case. Look forward to seeing the finished results!

But you won't be allowed to gamble if you use it!

Seriously, that looks like top work right there... we have an Amish made dining room table, all flame maple... it's the most solid table we've ever seen. Their craftsmanship is
second to none... nothing super fancy, but built perfect.

It's amazing the skills you can develop when there's no TV, Internet, etc. to distract you!

You've created an Amish Monster ......! Looks great.

Don't forget the padding on the strap.
