An Idea to Make Pool more TV worthy...like Racing!

I have an idea that might make Pool more TV worthy.

Heres is an example: I was playing pool the other day when the race was on and my One Pocket buddy was watching it between shots. Man he got all torn up when that guy Keselowski wrecked Jeft Gordon and they got into a fight...I though Hmmmm.

So here is my take on it.

I think you throw some luck in there and some skill and this is what I came up with.

Take 2 pro players and put them on a team....vs...2 more pro players and instead of them playing have them draw from a bucket of names of Pool League Players and make them all the same skill levels like 3s or 5s...lower skilled players and then give them some time to work with them....film this....from both sides...

Then have the match.......build it up with music and hype....crown the winnnrs .....King of the Hill.....then the side that lost can challenge the Pros whose team that won...they can even talk a little Smack just keep it TV worthy and then you have the match...

You will have all kinds of controversy to talk about and the Pros get to hone their teaching skills and will likely get more requests for lessons. It would put the Pros in touch with the players and would be something that people could identify with.

Everyone wants to play like a Pro Player and the best teacher with the best personality wins anyway you want to go about it.

This also could bring in ......Personalities where people hated certain ones who were sort of the bad guy but the bad guy could actually change his image and be the good guy after awhile.

Its the whole thing racing is based on....you have to create Action and Interest within people......I gave this absolutely no thought I just typed and brainstormed at the same time.......So what do you think?.....Maybe the losers get Knocked off Pool Island!!!

Why go to all that trouble? Make it real by putting Lou and JB on TV. :grin-square:

It's kind of like my recommendation for Pro 8-ball (or anyone's 8-ball for that matter):

Both players get a cueball (one white, the other yellow?) and play the rack AT THE SAME TIME. You can contact any ball (except the 8-ball) first. If I have solids I have to work on pocketing my solids, but I also have to watch you and perhaps hit one of your stripes that you're shooting at...or take a shot to tie up a couple of your stripes. Of course, any time I spend ruining your shots is less time I'm taking to make my shots.

It would add an element of a boxing match to an otherwise boring game. However, like boxing, it's pretty much a game for the young and mobile.

This isn't too far off from the Scotch Doubles event pairing pro pool players and NFL players (all of whom had some proficiency at pool).

NFL Celebrity Pool.

It didn't help; it may have hurt. The next step was to bring on the Cheerleaders to play. Not good.

I think a Reality Show Concept where young aspiring players get coached and get to compete to see who stays on Pool Island wouldn't be so destructive to the sport but I do get what you are saying.

I think there needs to be a clear and present respect for the game and mentors should be sage players who know the ropes and impart the wisdom on camera to the aspiring young guns so that every young gun out there and others at home would really like to be the chosen few who get to train to be at pro level.

I preferred the way that Ray Martin portrayed himself in 99 Critical Shots. He wore a suit and treated the game with respect and that can sell in my opinion if worked right.
