I rarely drink these days. When I was in college, I used to drink beer alot. Now on rare occasions I will go to a bar with some buddies and have a couple beers to talk and relax.
Yesterday we visited a bar I have never been to before. It's a small noisy place with an 8' bar table in the middle. There were a few guys on the table, playing for beers and having fun. This one guy was constantly beating every player who was next on the list to play. Pretty soon, everyone started betting this guy to play for $5 a game 8-ball. After beating about 5 people, the guy, who was obviously drunk, started asking everyone who walked by him to play him 8-ball for money. When my friends noticed this, they nudged me, knowing that I could easily beat the guy. I decided it was not a good idea to take money from a drunk. A little bit later, after I was tipsy, the guy started walking around the room asking each individual person to play him for money, being really cocky.
When he came to me, for some reason he was even more rude, and when I declined to play him for "any amount", he called me a chicken. Well that got me a little bit hot, so I immediatly stood up and told him to choose the amount. He must have thought he had a fish, so he said $50 per game. He wins the coin toss, breaks, runs a few balls, plays a few good safetys, and runs out. I payed him the $50, and he asked me if I wanted to double. I told him to bet $200, since I was a little drunk and annoyed at him trying to hustle me. He seemed to get a little nervous when I flat out told him I wanted to play for $200. He agreed, and I won the next game easily. He reached into his pocket, pulled out my $50 along with $30 in 5 dollar bills, and told me that was all I would get since I hustled him. I got upset, and started arguing with the guy because he didn't have any more money. The owner of the bar who was also the bar tender promtly kicks myself and my 3 friends out, because I tried to "hustle" his son.
What a bunch of jerks!
