An Interesting Old South West

Hi all,

I haven't been doing much with cues lately, but I thought I'd share a few bad pics of an old South West I just picked up. I recently got a call from a guy that I'd done some business with in the past saying he had a couple of old cases that I might be interested in. Unfortunately, the cases were in horrible shape, so I thought I'd just made a thirty five mile trip for nothing. He told me he was moving in four days and was getting ready to have a big garage sale. I ended up buying a washer and dryer from him, and as I was getting ready to leave, he said he might be interested in selling his cue, too.

I was pleasantly surprised with what he brought out! Just figured I'd share what made me smile with you all... By the way, the pin has the cactus, but no number.

Steve

Congrats on a great pickup. I wonder what's the history behind the pin having just the cactus symbol but no serial # - year etching? Might be worth-while to get in touch with Laurie @ SW to find out.

Thanks for sharing.

Maybe they shipped a few cues with the cactus in early 1993 before they decided to start serializing them.

Thanks for your feedback!

I think the cues that only have the cactus were only made in 1992. In 1993, they started putting numbers on with the cactus. Prior to 1992, they had no marking. I think this is one of the things that makes this cue unique. It's definitely Jerry Franklin era, but with a marking! If someone knows any different, please let me know.

Hi Nick,

Haven't talked to you in a while! I love your new Palmer, man. Which avatar did you like?

Take care,

Steve
