An issue I feel needs attention in this section...

I would like to draw attention to transactions that are agreed to in this forum and then backed out on by the buyer. An example of this would be to receive a PM or phone call stating that they (the buyer) agreed to purchase the item. A day or two goes by, you get another PM or call with them backing out.

My gut tells me this happens all the time, as it has happened to me 3 times now. I am done sweeping this under the rug. In my latest transaction, this happened. I have left a negative I-Trader, and also posted the negative in the two appropriate "Stickys".

I know these things can happen the other way around too. I would have the same feeling toward a seller backing out once a deal had been made.

I know that not everyone will agree with this stance, and may be considered overboard by some. When these things happen, it wastes the sellers time, as well as potentially losing other deals. If taking this stance influences future sales with me, then so be it.

I have had it happen to me, many times on Az and ebay.
"IT'S CALLED BUYER'S REMORSE". It happens in all type of business, what is a seller to do that is going to make a difference????? NOT MUCH!

This happens more then you think. You just need to remind the potention customer that if they do not pay right away that the sale is not final just because they say they want it. If someone else comes along and has cash ready to purchase you sell it. Unless you know your customer really well and you know that he is good for it. A bird in the hand is better then 2 in the bush.

I understand sometimes people need a few days to "get there finances straight" so they can buy the cue. I do maintain the Who ever pays first gets it policy, but I'm human and sometimes give leeway. I have a cue that I've had sold 4 times now, and 3 times they've canceled, once I waited a month for payment, I'm waiting for payment Right now on it too:rolleyes:

Just adapt the who ever pays me first, not whos interested and agrees to buy it first policy and this wont happen to you. I don't think anyone would think badly of you for saying I can't hold the cue for a few days-week, if someone else contacts me and is willing to pay X-amount, she's gone.

I've got no problem with waiting for someone to get things in order. I've been able to as a buyer myself. I have, however, always been up front about that and it was something agreed to. A man is only as good as his word. My main objective in making this thread is to point a light at the subject matter and hopefully more people will be honest in the I-Trader or the Buyer/Seller transaction report. I am hoping that by being forward about about this transaction, it may make another seller in the future think twice.

yeah, coryjeb left negative iTrader rating for me. something came up and i was not able to purchase the cue(as you can see i am selling my case and break cue).

thanks coryjeb, appreciate it bud.

negative iTrader is used to find scammers......:crying:

For scammers

I thought is was for bad "transactions".....guess we need some guidlines here.

i actually have negitive itrader on a transaction bc a member made a deal with me and didnt hold up his end of the deal. we agreed to a trade and when he didnt ship out his item i went to the next deal. the 1st deal was better but i dont have time to wait. so i moved on. it happens so much its crazy.

if you make a deal stick to it. so i leave neg itrader and go on with my life. its the only way to stop this. document the incident so others can see. then when this buyer ant to deal they pay up front or no deal. best way to go i think

I agree with you. I've pmed about buying something and right up front I'll say can I give you $xxx now and the rest as soon as I... Some people are fine with that and some aren't. I think its everyones responsibility to be up front about it. Its just the polite thing to do.

the only way i can see this problem ending is to have a real-time chat. if this were the case then cory would have my money for the cue. if both are in direct contact with each other then there is no excuse to not send payment. like a facebook chat feature.

ive had a guy tell me he was overnighting me a deposit on a table of 800 and it was already sent. so i stayed up all night taking the table apart and the next day sat at home all day. well it never came and i called him and he said he sent it out that day.(i thought it was already sent...hmm) then i had to wait till monday. i put a deposit on a uhaul that was non refundable because it came from another place.

then it arrives and it is only 400. i was going to drive half way across the country with gas being $4 a gallon and i said fine whatever...then the morning i was about to leave he backed out and wanted his money back.....i told him i couldnt give him the uhaul deposit back and i already had someone take off work to help me move the table and drive there and back. that was an additional $100. i told him that it wasnt fair to have him miss a days pay when he had kids to feed because you backed out.

I didnt hear from him for 4 months but caught him in a ton of lies and im glad i saved all out emails. now im left with a dissassembled table. try selling one of those.....so u gotta watch your best interest untill you get to know someone i guess on here.

I've got mixed feelings on this one.

Some times things happen and a buyer just can't complete a deal. A little understanding can go a long way.

Most of my deals have included phone calls to discuss the deal. It really helps!

On the other hand, I would want to know if a potential buyer on one of my cues for sale has backed out on many deals. I would rather just not deal with them.

Maybe another type of notification needs to be set up??

Best,

Russ........

This does happen an aweful lot....and I'm certain that dealers can attest to this, as well as most private sellers who've done more than a few deals. To a degree you have to know this and accept it going into a potential transaction. For the most part pool, players and cue buyers are a very fickle, peculiar bunch, sometimes a buyer might get totally into wanting something one minute, agree to purchase it, and then hear about a bad experience their buddy's buddy's buddy had with the cuemaker, and then don't follow through. Compound that with the bad economic times that we've been experiencing and that undoubtedly makes it all the worse.

My advice would be not to dwell on it and just move on. It use to bother me but the anguish isn't worth it. The way I approach things now, is how Troy (KOINNKID) best descibes it above.

there should be a section in itrader where u can leave a message that the person backed out of a deal and the person can choose to include an explanation or just leave it as is. if there is an explanation, u click the link and it'll bring u to a separate page which shows the reason. this way it's not recorded as a negative on ur itrader but still lets others who deal with u in the future know of this sort of thing. if u had a legitimate reason for withdrawing then the explanation will be enough, if u had no legitimate reason then it will let others be more aware of how u handle ur dealings.

my take....

if you say you'll buy and the seller agrees before you pull your offer then it's YOUR item! of course if the item is not as described then that's a different story.......just as well as far as "getting your finances in order", don't say you're gonna buy if you can't access and pay/send the money no later than the next business day before you say sold.........as for the buyers remorse excuse for dealings here, i don't believe in it unless agreed to buy the seller............

skins ---------- believes sold means sold..........

There is a chat feature at the top of the page. I went there once and stayed for 30 mins. and no one came on. I don't think many even know it's there.

Instant Messenger!

Right on dude! I've thought that for awile. You can set up a buddy list and see when certain people are available. This PM crap sucks after awhile.
