An ode to BigCat (Ray Robles). Please Read.

Hey Bval I would suggest something that I have done...I have a made a promise that I will never post in any thread that a certain (un-named poster) has started and will never ever reply to any specific post of said un-named poster) and relayed that I expect the same courtesy from that said (un-named) poster.

(I am leaving out said un-named posters name out as I do not want to ruin said un-named poster reputation on this board)

My experience on this board has never been better since that promise.....;)

BTW - Nice tribute post to Big Cat .....even if it was a bet pay off it was still a correct statement.

I try to take a little different approach. Years ago a friend of mine told me that you should always "look for the good" in all people. I have found that he was right; there usually is some good to be found in just about everybody. Now I have met Bruce (Coco) on a couple of occasions, and believe it or not, I have found quite a bit of good in him. I do not agree with his negative approach to most issues, but that is because he seems to be looking for the bad in every situation. That in itself does not make him a bad person, it just handicaps him with a predjudice that I hope he can one day get past.

In the meantime, the rest of us can enjoy the good that comes from posts like Brady's (Bval).

Promo....

Anyone want to give the info. to this league for the curious. i.e. when the next session begins, structure, cost, kudos?, prize..trophy, cash?, etc.

I have found in the past that straight pool players seem to be the friendliest, good sports, and best mentors willing to share info. of all the game players. Tap tap tap to 'bigcat' for continuing the tradition!!!!

I am not sure when the next session starts but I think BigCat will be running it. There were a couple of players who were not sosuch good sports but they just quit showing up. The league is on Monday nights at 7pm at Kolby's. It has a one time fee of $20 and then it is $10 a week. It pays out for weekly high runs. $25 each for players ranked above and below the league rating of 95. 10's and above start at 125, 9's at 100, 8's at 85 and 7's at 70. You move up or down 3 balls for every win or loss. Thes session we are paying out based on wins and then having a tournament at the end of the session. That's all I can think of right now.

Nice post. There is a guy like that where I play. Just poetry in motion good solid play and talk about position, wow. When I grow up I want to be like John Amiss. I just hope other players have someone to emulate.

Dwight

John is THE BEST unknown Bank Pool player I ever saw. He put something on me ten years ago that soap wouldn't wash off. :D

On a side note: word is that a certain Glove "tamed the BigCat" a couple weeks ago.

I'm not sure of the specifics, but it sounds a little X-rated, if you ask me.

Yes I remember hearing something about the Glove "wearing it helps him squeeze more juice out". Not sure exactly what it meant but it sounds dirty too.

Yeah, anyone with a nickname of "The Glove" (makes me think of Michael Jackson) who claims they've "tamed a big cat" and "can squeeze more juice with a glove" just sounds like a shady character to me .

LOL!!! :D :D :D

As I said: "To bad Kolby's does not advertise their, straight pool league on Monday nights, as there is a renewed intrerest in 14/1."

I actually mentioned this today too two old boys out where I live that would have jump on a straight pool league as that is there favorite game.

Maybe the next time it starts up at Kolby's someone will put up the information on AZB, so that I can pass it along, as none of the (3) Valley Pool Papers made a point to mention this in their list of leagues.

Please don't post anything in the threads that I start or in response to anything I say and I will do the same for you.

Thanks,

Who is this 'Glove' character?

He does sound really shady. Hope we don't cross paths . . .

On-Topic: Good job Ray. Super cool of you to help Brady out . . . then kick his ass when it means something. Actually, thanks to both you guys for being such good sports and supporters of the league.

Off-Topic: Grindz, Coco, anyone else interested -- Jimmy and I decided to get a league started sometime around last February. We put the word out to people we know and got the idea off the ground as best we could. We purposely did not advertise b/c, well, we really didn't know what to do if we got too many players -- neither one of us had the time or desire run multiple divisions on multiple nights, especially since we were taking zero $$ out of the operation. We just wanted to get 12-16 players, get something started, and work the kinks out in the 1st session. That said, we never turned anyone away, and actually ended up with 24 players, w/o advertising a word.

The first session of AZ Straight Pool has worked out really well, with of course a few kinks here and there. BigCat (Ray) will be taking things over next year, and I'm sure space will be limited. But the league will be in very good hands.

Glove . . . er, I mean Al

Like I said in your DREAMS. You are asking me to BE NICE after HOW MANY RED DOTS (BAD REPS) FROM YOU.

I am not asking you to BE NICE to me or anyone. I am asking you to STAY THE FVCK AWAY FROM ME and I will do the same for you. Get a clue. If you want to play games you will be playing by yourself. You should have no problem there. I asked politely and respectfully the first time, the second time and even the third time. No I am asking you to STAY THE FVCK AWAY FROM ME. GET IT???????
