Nice cue... Andy has great ideas... how would you rate his ringwork? The butt sleeve ring looks like it could have been aligned/centered to match the ring at the joint?

He did a super job on this and the design came out dead on with what I gave him. Could be wrong but I think this was his scrimshaw artist's first "fantasy art" venture on a cue, too. His ring work is great. In this case the misalignment is caused by the butt ring set being indexed on 10 vs. 8.

Andy's

Pictures don't do the cue justice. I saw it in person in Andy's booth.
Colors are fantastic. And you are right Andy and his wife are about as nice as they come.

sean, great cue, love the design. this one is definitely a keeper. sorry i wasn't able to come down to the show, i was looking forward to stopping by your booth.

Andys inlays seem to be sharper and more clean. Awsome job done on this cue it looks great.

I agree that this is a really nice looking cue but with all the work that went into design and build, why not make the effort to build aligning rings? IMO, the rings distract from the overall appearance of the cue. Aside from that, this is a beautiful piece of work.

Nice cue Sean. You kind of took a different approach to the idea of a conversion. You definely don't see Titlists done like that often if ever.

Andy is curently working on my Titlist conversion cue. I designed some custom rings on mine as well. Andy mocked them up and seems to really like the design. I hope they turn out OK. I am having quite a bit of ivory and silver in mine as well but it will be more traditional in design than this one. I am a big fan of the barbell, boxes, and peacock designs. I am really looking forward to getting it. I am having the cue built 59" because I intend to use it as my player at least occasionally.

Sean, have you ever seen a Titlist conv. that was extra length before? I don't recall ever seeing one.

D, I don't recall ever seeing one long....seemed most everything isl 57 or 58", especially with the full splice intact. This one was a 20oz one-piece but was still short...there was only about 27" for him to work with. Putting a maple handle in was an option, but I wanted him to completely retain the splice. Luckily he had an oddball piece of rosewood laying around in the shop that matched these points PERFECTLY. That's what you see as the butt and it's sleeved into the full splice.

I think more cuemakers actually do put handles in for their conversions that we know. If you have rings above the wrap, that's definitely the case. I don't disagree with the practice, as it allows much flexibility with weight, designs, evening the points, etc., but I wanted this one to have an old school 'hit'.

Ended up going with elephant ear on the wrap instead of lizard. Tried to keep with the 'dragon' theme, but the color and texture of the elephant really brought out the scrimshaw work.

Let me know when you get yours in - would love to see it !!

Mine will be a "half splice" full splice conversion. I am also having a smooth black leather wrap instead of textured. Seems to go with the concept of the cue better than a lizard or other exotic.

Have you ever been able wrangle some pics out of Andy when the cue is in progress? He is just now getting started on it, and I would be interested to see how it comes along. Regardless, I will post pics when I get the cue this summer.
