Another 6 Ball shot. Any other Solutions?

A friend of mine and myself were discussing a safety play on a shot shown below. He mentioned he had seen this in an Accustats tape and said that the safety comes up a lot and should be learned. He said that the safety ends up with the cue ball hiding behind the 8 ball (cue ball A) and the 6 at the other end, thus giving the hook/safety.

My problem is, whenever I attempted this shot, I either scratched (which was most of the time), or, I took some off the shot and ended up by the corner pocket (regular CB). Cue ball is frozen the the side rail.

Shooting level caused a scratch almost every time. Shooting jacked up at about a 15 degree angle to the CB had the best results and less scratches.

My question is, does anyone else have a different solution to this shot? Maybe a softer three railer to hide the CB behind the 8 ball and the 6 ball opposite side rail?

The cueball is too far over to the left. You need less angle to get this to work.

I still don't see how you're going to get the intended safety. I mean, physically, the shot doesn't really exist. Perhaps the 6 ball is supposed to be off the rail?

The only way the cue ball goes toward the top left corner is if you're cutting the 6 a little to your right (into the rail). If you hit it straight on with follow the cue ball should go about where you want it to. Jacking up shouldn't make any difference if you're still hitting the cue ball where you want to.

You could try two two-ways in a row:

1. 6 in the corner, cue ball behind the 8 (page 1)
2. 7 in the corner, cue ball behind the 9 (page 2)

I think you have as good a chance of getting safe with these two-ways as you do of getting safe with your safety.
