I was a bit shocked when I opened this thread Ray. Ashton is my last name as well.

Sorry to hear this Ray. I never met the man, can you tell us more @ him? Why was he called Carteret Red being Carteret is in NC outterbanks, not Jersey?
Anyone have some great memories with him they'd care to share?

Carteret Red
Red was most certainly from Carteret, NJ. One of the first "real" players I ever met, back when I was about 18 years old. He was always "dressed up" (Red was definitely like a walking time capsule LOL!!), it seemed like he would run balls for hours. Very entertaining to watch. He was a legend around here, for his shooting abilities, and, some "other things"...
