Another Legend lost. R.I.P. Dan Janes

Heard it last night on Facebook. Sad news, indeed! I bought my first custom cue from Dan Janes before Joss Cues LTD came about, sometime in the early '70s. A gentleman and a damn fine person! He will be missed.

RIP to a legend in our community.
His cues were so good that a top N.J. player Neptune Joe Frady played with one and sold it to start playing with a Szamboti and regretted selling the Joss,to him the Joss just played better.
This was around 1985 or so.

Never heard a negative word about Dan or his products. Only positive things. A pioneer in pools hey-day. A tough loss for many...

My condolences to Dan's family, friends and loved ones
Rest easy Mr. Janes

After a few conversations, we discovered we were fellow book worms…I mentioned an author he had never read….
…...so I picked up a copy for him at a US Open….he must’ve sent me a thou worth of hard backs he read once.
……he was delighted when I gave him more etymology on the word Joss, which he had got from a James Clavell novel.
Rest in peace, Dan
