Another new young player...

I had the privilege today of playing a fine young up and coming poolplayer, who was visiting Blackbird Billiards, in Kalamazoo. Shane Roebuck, of Ann Arbor, MI, has only been playing for a couple of years, but plays way beyond that, in terms of his stroke, shot selections, and creative runouts and safeties. He's had some help from his dad, a couple of the UM billiards club guys, and a lesson or two from John Binion. This kid is a champion player in the making, and has, imo, tremendous potential. He did go to Tucson last summer, and played in the BCA Jr. Nationals, but, as it was his first time, and he was nervous, he did not play up to his ability. Obviously he has a lot of natural talent, and I can't wait to work some with him, which I plan to do very soon. If you have the opportunity to play this nice young man, jump on it...but you had best not make any mistakes! :D

I became close friends with shane at the qualifier for the tourney, and at nationals. he's a good kid.

Shane...I'd love to see you "hook up" with this young player, for a set or two. He has a remarkable eye, and has the same attitude and respect for that game, that I see in you! Good luck in 2007!

Craig...I've been in Jayme's place a couple of times, but not since he took out the big tables, and renamed it. It's REALLY smoky in there. I don't play much on barboxes, and so prefer Blackbird Billiards in KZoo. I'll have to come in and meet you some Sunday. Today I did a lesson over in Kalamazoo, and the next couple of Sundays I'll be in Louisville.
