Another old cue and case need idenity

Hey I got a handmade case and a Raymond Calvert cue from a friend a few years ago and don't know much about either. The cue has two shafts and real nice inlays and points and is 95% with a little blueing on both shafts, the case looks like a porper maybe 1 by 2 but has stiched suede leather and nice tooled straps any info will help.Heres a few pics I hope.--Leonard

Is Adam and Helmsteter the same company

I once was told that Raymond Calvert special ordered cues that he designed from Helmsteter cues then signed them before selling them from Italy or France and only he could market his designs but this is hearsay at best. Thanks--Leonard

IIRC, Raymond Calvert was an Italian designer who designed that line of cues, said Helmstetter, when the cues were made. It was later discovered that he (Calvert) was a fictional character...just a made up name.

That story has a familiar ring to it.
IIRC there was a similar situation with a Julio Strambolini
who was suposed to be an expert Italian violin maker.

AIUI - Helmstetter sold components, up to entire cue blanks,
to cue makers. He would even produce an entire cue line
as he did for Richard/Robert(?) Weir(sp) in the late 70s
