Another one bites the dust at Williebetmore's

Yep, I visited Williebetmore's basement and he finagled me into a game called "Straight Pool." I told him that I had only ever watched 1 game of this "Straight Pool." Williebetmore said, "That's alright, I will teach you as we play." Hmmph! Teach me he did. Of course he won.

He did say I could come back and try again (and I will be back).

I suppose I should thank him since he did buy supper (but he ducked out on the dessert).

So, you're after the infamous "Betmore Cup" as well? Did you see it? Did Williebetmore lightened up the security level any?

P.S.: Williebetmore is one of the nicest host around. You know you'll leave that place with full belly and sore ass, LOL.

Actually, while we had a GREAT evening of pool (we did get some 8-ball in as well as the mandatory 14.1), calcuttaman nearly caused me to have a HEART ATTACK.

As he was fumbling with his cue by the drink rail; he almost knocked the Betmore Cup off it's resting place. Luckily I had refused to serve him any liquor, and he was able to catch it before it crashed to the ground.

While "the Cup" is heavily insured; the deductible is HUGE. I'm hoping he will show more caution on his next visit.

Just another great evening of pool in Betmore's Basement. My wife is travelling through Asia with one of the pro players for at least another 2 weeks; so I am planning a LOT of pool - let me know if you have any time for pool the week of June 8th (it should be non-stop pool all week; dinner is on me). If Mark promises to behave, he is invited too.

I will admit that the cup fell over but I wasn't even that close to it. I'm sure he had it on a string and made it fall when it looked like I was close to it. It was Williebetmore's attempt at making me feel ill at ease. Unfortunately his "sharking" did get me a bit upset and I was so flustered I couldn't concentrate after this.

Posting FROM work now. In 30 minutes will head to St. Louis for 5 days of non-stop pool with Mark Wilson on his 10 footer.

I will grudgingly admit that continuous sharking is an integral part of my strategy...but hell, its a lot easier to master than pool (and requires much less practice and precision....but the "Cup on a string" ploy was BRILLIANT you will HAVE to admit).
