another rules question ?

Before the start the start of my straight pool playoff match last night my opponent asked this question.

"I have my cue that I'm shooting with and I have another cue with an extension that I want to use if I need to reach for a shot. Is it legal to change cues?"

I told him I really didn't know but since I wouldn't have a problem with him adding and removing the extension as needed I didn't mind if he switched cues for a shot that required more reach.

Is there a rule about switching cues mid match ?

There are some 14.1 tournaments (and leagues) that forbid the use of a jump cue. There is no rule I've ever seen about using multiple playing cues, provided they aren't some kind of special design, like 58 inches long and 10 ounces for jumping (which has been made). The World Standardized Rules do not limit the number of a player's cues. Any cue that is within equipment specs is legal. (Barring local barring.)

The World Standardized Rules and the Equipment Specs are on the WPA website. https://wpapool.com/
