Another Tournament with "No Conflict Rules"

Paul is not telling everything. He quit using this chart. He now runs with a bracket that is absolutely genius and is the most fun and exciting thing I've seen. If Barry used it for the US Open, he would get his 256 wait-listed every year. You can bet on that, all day...

LMFAO ,,, Barry does not need a gimmick to get his wait list , he just needs to pay everybody when their finished playing

Full results will be posted on the Gold Crown Billiards website in a few days. A media report will be submitted to AZ.

Champion: Kurt England, Mansfield OH
Runner-Up: Shayne Morrow, Erie PA

Yeah both those guys were playing pretty hot that day.....Not surprised.

Great event Paul, your staff is A++++++ best event I have ever attended.

Look forward to the next one, I better try to get in early 'cause it's that good.

I think the "no conflct rules" are a great idea, at least as it pertains to avoiding pattern racking, which is illegal under the WPA rules but does not seem to be enforced. I think some version of this should be introduced to all tournaments - perhaps along with other common additions like automatic spotting of the 9 ball (or 10 ball) on the break and a certain number of balls up table. I think these are a common sense way to avoid delays and conflict and essentially enforce the current rules.

The rest of the rules - no 3 foul, continue shooting despite not making a ball, no short games - fundamentally change the game. That may not be a bad thing (I've never tried or seen the format), but it certainly makes the game different. Are there any matches online using these rules?

This just in... No conflict rules to take over tic tac toe.......

Chris, I will let the results speak on behalf of what I do. I really do enjoy my events.

Paul as long as the players are happy at your events that is all that really matters in the end... We can argue rulesets, pattern racks and templates until the cows come home and probably will.....

This Saturday we are hosting our 20th quarterly Tri-State Open Nine-Ball Tournament. There is a full field of 64 paid entries with a waiting list. Total of all prizes and Calcutta will be between $8000 and $10,000. The No Conflict Rules for racking and breaking will be used again. The rules are used for all of our leagues, local weekly tournaments, and quarterly regional events.

I post this in the main forum to encourage discussion on the No Conflict Rules.

Funny that you bring that up. You would be surprised at the number of local and PA players that skip the Fall event every year because of hunting season.

Our 21st tournament had a full field of 64 a week in advance with a deep waiting list. The event was held in one day with more than $10,000 at stake. 231 matches were played under the "No Conflict Rules". The event flowed smoothly without incident. Not only do the "No Conflict Rules" speed up play, the rules also obliterate the cause of so much distrust and annimocity that exists between players. Shayne Morrow (Erie PA) defeated Jim Doran (Tonawanda NY) by a score of 6-1 in the finals.

The results are HERE.
