Another try at getting the yellowing out of old balls

I bet if someone cut a old yellowed ball in half on a bandsaw it would be yellow in the center as well

So I have a slight addiction to 20+ year old plastic of a very specific sort. In that world, some parts are clear. They yellow over time. To restore them, we make something called flex soup. It's hydrogen peroxide (salon care 40), oxy clean, and UV light, most commonly natural sunlight. It will reverse the yellowing and make them "icy" clear again. The bad news is, it doesn't last forever.

I've got a set of Centennials circa 1970's that I was considering going the hydrogen peroxide route but decided to leave the patina.

We have a friend that we alternate play with at each other's houses, and she has a set of Centennials that she has had for many years. She cleans them after every days play, and they look new with virtually zero yellowing. She has a Ballstar polisher, and I'm not sure what's in their solution, but it's almost like cheating when playing with them. Not sure it really helps your game though as when you go to league, the balls there will never play like that.

Yellowing is just the natural process of phenolic-resin balls aging. doesn't effect play at all. i think it looks pretty cool myself.

I wouldn't mess with those for anything they look awesome. They look like they have some serious time in and have some great stories to tell if they could.
If you just have to have stark white ones just buy another set.

For sue on both counts. Oddly enough, these have zero nicks or scratches and they rack tight. I don‘t think they’ve seen much play over the years.
