Are there any stories from the VNEA, any division?

After hours matches.
Named players doing well
Packages being run

Anything interesting? Its early I know.

Wow, no stories about the VNEA.

No one matched up, there were no great matches.

Just thousands of average games not worth putting up on AZ? I find that really hard to believe.

We had 3 out of 4 teams in the final 16 in 8 ball team. Our Stix team lost their first match last night. They are playing for 9-12th today at 11:30 am Vegas time.

Tommy,

No stories but I did notice a team from Portugal won the 8 Ball Open Regular Team event for $10,000. Didn't see any of the Portuguese at the BCAPL or the ACS events. Guess they chose an "easier" tournament to play in. Was pretty busy at both events so I may have missed them. Lots of Europeans cashed in the Singles events. Wonder how VNEA regulates their entries?

I don't think BCA has any charters in Portugal, Germany, Spain, Australia,,,, We also had teams from Poland, New Zealand and a couple other Countries too. Not sure I would call it a weak event. They have charters in those Countries, and qualify just like the U.S. players do.

As for stories,,, one of the best finishes in the team event, was ladie's masters. Team from Chicago area was down 9 balls, with 1 game left. I believe her name is Linda Cruz, broke and ran out a tough rack, to win the title.

There was some action going on, but I don't have any details for you. Sorry

Yes it was Linda Cruz. Also, Congrats to you and your guys too Sam. Nice tourney.

Sam,

In the past three or four years, several of the BCAPL events were won by players and /or teams from Portugal, Spain, England and this year, Taiwan. Most of those teams were in actuality National teams rather than local as required by the rules. The individuals were from distant parts of the countries brought together to play as a team. BCAPL moved the Taiwan team to the Advanced division just before the event started. Can't imagine those guys as an Open team.

It has been suggested before on AZ to have a shootout between the winners of the ACS, VNEA and BCAPL Nationals. As TAP and APA are handicapped events, doubt if they could compete. As to International teams and players qualifying, who is watching them to insure equality?

Tough thing about the shootout idea is, in the Master division, it's the same 2 or 3 teams that win all 3 National. They go to Vegas and stay for a month of tournies and action.

I had no idea, BCA had teams coming from there. I have not played the BCA National event since 2008. Last I heard on VNEA, is the whole Country of Spain, {and I am sure some of the others} is one charter. Where I live, we have a population of about 65,000, and have 2 VNEA charters, and 3 BCA charters. So, kind of puts things in a different perspective, when we go play in Vegas.

Thank you.

That outburst from Heather and her team, I knew it was something big. Right after, someone came down and told me. Gotta love matches like that. Feel a little bad for the team that lost, but you have to appreciate the ability to stay focused and run out at the end like that. It's incredible. Congrats to them....

Our team from Vegas, "Dick's Pick", won the ACS Advanced 8 Ball event. We changed three players and finished second in the BCAPL Open 8 Ball. As in keeping with the amazing ways to win (or lose), our opponent playing the 25th game put himself into what I thought was a no win situation. Couldn't cut the 8 into any pocket. Had no realistic bank. Decided to back bank cross corner from a difficult angle. Banked the ball so short it actually went all the way back across the table and HUNG in the wrong corner pocket! Of course our player had no place to play a good safe or make a ball. Our guy left his opponent a relatively easy kick cross corner which he made. What a way to lose (or win) the Championship! Thought you would appreciate the banking aspect as I know how proficient you are!

Hey Driz,

This thread is eleven days old with fifteen replies. In case you are not aware, BCAPL and ACS hold pool tournaments as well as the VNEA. Just not on your version of this thread. Why don't you ask Tommyceilings if he minded me telling a story on HIS thread. At least it was POOL tournament related!

I am not surprised that the Portuguese team won as they had at least three BCAPL listed Master players in the team !!!!!!!!!

There were two Spanish teams there. Our team beat out the Spanish 'B' team to get 13-16 in the Regular. The other Spanish Team is a top flight Masters team. There were three great players with Andreas being the best IMO. The other two that played real strong was a young looking kid, Imanuel and Fransico. I think they ended up getting 9-12 though. I had a good time but they racked up some mini money from me. For some reason they were always able to get one in the top part of the bracket and one in the bottom, I usually beat one but beating both was tough. We could have chopped and I would have been fine with that. I wondered if they were from spain becaue every time I would try to say something in spanish, they looked at me funny. It could have been my silly attempt to even communicate in spanish.

must be the kid that looked like he was 15-17, he shot very well wheni had watched him playing next to us... the log cabin. we took t33-48, same as last year. we had a bye first rd. and won our next 4, and then 2 and out.
our first loss was to a fellow minnesota team...erostats. cant tind the results on vnea to see how they placed in the open. anybody know how erostats placed?

my teammate finished 3rd/4th in the sportsmens singles, got a charlie and 3 hundo... for jaydog.

oh and a couple of teammates got trick rolled for 1800 cash, credit cards, and his id.

otherwise pretty fun times.

found a hidden gem, ellis island cafe. good food and really good prices. behind ballys next to 7 eleven. only bad thing is a possible 20-40 minute wait depending on what time you go there.

Louis,

The VNEA results for the Open Team Regular Division show Erostats.com finishing fourth. Rochester, Minnesota? Hello from Rochester, NY!

Our BCAPL team played a team from Coon Rapids, MN. Great group of guys and some good shooters as well.

Wound up playing at least two young guns from Minnesota in the BCAPL Open Singles. Dustin Morris and Michael Perrone Jr. Both great young talents. Was very, very fortunate to get by both of them.
