Any Action

This just in...

There is nothing finer than a tournament in the Carolinas, and North Carolinian Tony Watson made sure that all in attendance were afforded an opportunity to witness some great action. BTW, Tony Watson received the Derby City Classic Louie Roberts A&E Award in 2004 for providing the most entertainment and action, and he lived up to it this week in Goldsboro.

From what I was told via cell phone, T.W. gave some kid whose name I do not know the 6, 8, and all the breaks for a 7-ahead match for a hefty chunk of change. He also gave the 8-ball to Chris Bartrum in another battle. I do not know the outcome of either of these matches, but I'm sure the railbirds enjoyed the match-ups.

Rob Saez also locked horns with Chris Bartrum for a very large undisclosed amount and beat him handily within one hour for the 8-ahead set.

The Carolinas Open will come to a close today, with Maryland's own Mike Davis and Power Breaker Larry Nevel on the winners' side of the charts. I am happy to see Mike having a good tournament.

As a UPA Touring Pro, Davis plays pool professionally, and it is scores like these that enable him to continue to pursue his dreams and keep him going. It ain't easy being a full-time pool player, but the rewards are truly wonderful and make it all worthwhile.

Sometimes it's not so much the money or the tin cups, but just getting that big "W." In a field of topnotch combatants as there were at the Carolinas Open this past week, he done good. I am wishing Mike Davis the very best today in the finals! :)

Word is that T.W. and Chohan matched up playing 8 ahead early in the event with T.W. getting the win.
