Why not have the maker that is building the cue do one for you?

There is a guy that has cues on ebay sometimes that feature this.
His name escapes me for sure but I believe his last name is Starkey?
He might be able to help if thats what your looking for.

Black can...

You should contact Richard Black...he specializes in The Bushka...a wooden pin should be no problem. Plus he machines all of his own nickel rings the same way George used to.

Which cue maker is building this cue for you? I think doing a wood pin like the carom cue style should not be a big problem, it is just a matter of how much you are willing to spend. I think that may affect the balance if you have it done by someone else, so I would recommend talking to your cue maker.

the guy who is building the cue is a good friend of mine and it is saving me ALOT of money but he doesnt know how to do a wood pin.. thanks for all the suggestions guys

i think the wood pin on the butt would cause a very weak joint in the female end of the shaft.

definitely. For a strong wood-joint, the pin needs to be carved out of the shaft.

If you are just looking for an all wood feel, Glass G10 pins are supposed to have a very similar feel to wood. There is also a company called Barringer cue supply which sells an ebony joint pin that is specially treated to be strong enough.

wood pin

i build cues with a wood pin in the butt. if you have your cue maker to get in touch i'll give him a pin for your cue. the shaft walls are NOT too thin for a 1/2 by 8 wood pin. i have been using one for about two years and no problems. keep your head down. chuck starkey
