Any difference in the latest Centennial balls besides packaging?

Hi. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a set of new Centennials. Besides the look of the box (current: black with gold "banner", old: black with red border), is there any difference in the balls themselves? Brunswick doesn't mention any change in the recipe, so I would expect the answer is they're the same. But... I have run across this quote at a billiard supply store... " Currently, the Duramith coating is available only in the Tournament and Centennial sets. ", which implies, obviously, that the new Centennials are Duramith. I'm thinking it's unlikely as I would assume Brunswick would prominently mention Duramith, but perhaps it's a licensing issue?

Sorry if this has been more or less answered before. "Brunswick Centennials" comes up with a TON of hits...

Thanks!

I would think the only place you'd get a straight answer is from Aramith. I believe someone here has the contact email of a rep that answers quickly.

Same formula for yrs. The Centennials use the SuperAramithPro resin mix. To get the newest Duramith formula you have to buy one of the Duramith Tournament sets. I've played both and can't tell them apart as far as playing is concerned. Tournaments are a bit brighter. You do pay more for the Centennial 'prestige' of ownership. BTW, this has come up a lot in the past. Saluc/Aramith themselves said that the Cent's use the SAP resin mix. Its not a 'coating' but a harder resin mix in the Tournaments. 'Supposed' to have fewer skids and less burn marks. The traditional colors Tournaments are fabulous rocks to play with as are the old-school Cent's. Can't go wrong either way.

Saluc (Aramith) has been making the Centennials for Brunswick for decades. The only way to get a clear answer is to contact Aramith. As mentioned above, Centennials have been made using the same phenolic resin used to make Aramith Super Pros. I would think it is unlikely Aramith would use their top resin (Duramith) on an OEM project so they can retain a competitive advantage with their Tournament sets, including the Aramith Black.

I asked them directly and they told me what i posted above. To get Duramith you have to buy a Tournament set. Cent's are SAP which was their premium ball til the Tournament's came out.

Thanks for all of the above replies. That is pretty much exactly what I thought. The only wrench in my thinking was the quote from a distributor, which (obviously, that's why I came here) I didn't take as gospel. Cheers!

In looking at the box and the description on the Brunswick website, I see no mention of Duramith. I'm pretty certain if they were made with Duramith, they would at least mention it somewhere.

After the Tournaments came out. The Cent's are made from SAP resin mix. Only the T's are Duramith. The Pred Arcos balls are SAP too.
The tournaments came out about 10 years ago. If you asked then, that info is dated.

Edit, maybe even longer? Was it about 2010? The design was from the IPT set of 2005. I remember the standalone Tournament’s came a few years after the IPT died.

While I don't know exactly when Aramith Tournament balls were introduced, I'm aware that they were available, in some places at least, in the fall of 2009. So 15 years, at least.

WTH is your problem dude?? Go ask them yourself and get back with us if you don't believe it. For the last time: Centennials, the SAP set and the Pred Arcos balls are all SAP resin mix. Only the T's are Duramith. LASTLY: Duramith balls came out in '09.

I’ve got no problem. You can’t handle facts. What year did you ask them? 2009? Or 2024? It’s a world of difference and is completely relevant, and you are avoiding answering. If you asked 15 years ago, you have zero knowledge if they have since changed.

Provides more questions than answers and is rather contradictory.

I think he is trying to say in a "marketing friendly way" that all of their sets play jam up, but the only ones with Duramith are the Aramith Tournament sets.
Really?

The Centennial set is made with the same Aramith resin and features the same tight specification and playability as the Super Aramith Pro or Aramith Tournament set.

Confusing to say the least.

Amen. How can they both use the SAME resin if the Tournaments are the ONLY ones that use Duramith resin? Brian.

I happen to have 2 sets that I bought brand new. One was 2 years ago and the other was in 1997. I bought the new set because the old one has gotten to where they seem to get smudges on them too frequently and it's hard to keep them looking clean and shiny. I like shiny. Otherwise, they look, weigh and measure identically throughout both sets. My bet is nothing changed.
