He said he did light hauling and some old lady called him to haul out a bunch of junk in the basement. In the "junk pile" was this Joss butt, no shaft in sight. He said he really didn't play pool, but someone told him that I may have a "top end" that would fit the cue! I told him I didn't have any laying around, but I could make him a matching shaft for the cue. At the time I think I told him $85 and up depending upon what ferrule material he prefered. He gave me a look, and said I'm spending that much on half of an old pool stick. At first I thought he was going to throw the butt in the garbage can, but I told him I'd be interested in the "bottom end" if he wanted to sell it. He said "sure, what will you give me for it?" I looked in my pocket and all I had at the moment was about $100. I said "I'll give you a hundred for it!" I can still hear his response in my mind, he asked "dollars???" He took that "C-note" and headed for the door grinning ear to ear! I was pretty happy with the deal myself. I've bought 2 different 9' Gold Crown II's at different times and places for just $200 ea. One at a Salvation Army Store, one from a house that was hours from being demolished and the owner had tried to give the table away to anyone who'd remove it. I gave her $200 even though she just wanted it hauled away! It's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time! Oh, it helps to have a few hundred mad money in your pocket as well! These deals usually disappear before you can get to the bank and back! lol'
just more hot air!

Voodoo Daddy said:Sherm...remember Jeffs Trading Post on Dixie Hwy south of your gas station? I bought 5-6 cues from him and it got to the point when a pawner would come to off a cue, he would call me to find out the worth. I would low-ball him everytime, he knew it too but we both made out like bandits!!!
Amongst the cues I scored I got two very nice Hoppe house cues from him for $10 a piece and a Kersenbrock for $85...HAHAHAHAHASee ya soon <somewhere I'm sure!!>
