Any info on bank pool?

I have been looking on the net for info on bank pool. I haven't been able to find much. I enjoy the game and would like to get better. Hopefully I can find some info on strategies, players, drills, etc.... Any info would help.
 
Accu-stats has a lot of bank pool videos from the Derby City Classic. That might be a good way to study the strategy, and there is a lot of strategy.

Gary Spaeth v. John Brumback is a good one.
 
Thanks Wally. I do have a couple tapes. That has been my main source of education to date. I find just listening to the commentators is a wealth of knowledge. I tend to learn well when I have pictures, I can read and then practice on my table. I guess I was hoping that someone out there had word of a "secret bank pool web page" that would turn me in to a pro overnight. One that was diagrams, moves, advice, etc... Then I would proceed to snap off the Vegas BCA Bank Pool Tourny in November. But, maybe I am thinking a little unrealistically :D
 
if i recall a few years back there was a pretty good tutorial on this site about banking it went through a couple of different banking systems, i checked but couldn't find it, maybe mike or someone else knows where it is, unless it was another site, im pretty sure it was this one. There was 1 bank pool video from the dcc floating around dc++ u could see if crawdaddio has it, or knows where to get it.

I think the best way to learn some stategery in the banks is to play, well........banks.
Find someone who will play you cheap and pay attention. A friend of mine has been going up to Chicago and playing Piggy and his game has definitely improved (he's always beaten up on me anyway, but now it's even worse). Glen tells him--don't ever give up a shot.

You can always make up your own drills for just making the banks. Here's one:

Read the first link first if you're interested, as it explains pretty well how to use the program.
I would, however, recommend using Revconnect instead of the standard DC++ software, it seems to work more smoothly and reliably for me.

Last winter, Billiards Digest ran a really great story on Glen 'Piggy Banks" Rogers, in which he offers some of his banking secrets. He's on the issue's cover, so it will be easy to figure out which BD it is. Anyone who takes the trouble to read the article will learn a lot about banking balls.

That's a great shot, Crawman. Not so easy to keep the cue ball and the four ball out of harm's way on that one. Nice going.

Thanks for the banking drill. I actually laid out about 6 balls and went down the line crossing into the side and then I did the same crossing into the corner. A simple little drill like that can sharpen up the skills.

I need to get my hands on that "Piggy Banks" article. I looked into getting a old copy from Billiards Digest but didn't find any info.

Most of all I want to thank you for the dc++ tip. Found some real treasures in there. I had no idea how much stuff is out there. I might of even gotten a few from you!!!

Thats a good drill. I use 6 balls, do it on both sides of the table. You can practice low, center or follow with any english. Mostly i use low in or outside english. However the way I first saw this shot was rapid fire by Joe Balsis. I like it, don't give yourself time to think just shoot by instinct and move the c/b. No practice stroke just shoot. You got to make all six before you change sides or english. It will make banking like childs play. LOL I wouldn't bet on it today but many times I made 12 on one side then switched sides and made another 12. That's using low left and low right.

Glad you like it. Practice those cross sides, and cross corners untill you can make 'em with all different kinds of angles and english. Try this:

Get used to it and vary the angle and english. Practice all of these shots for a VERY long time, and you WILL get better. Then you can move on to the hard ones like 2, 3, and 4, and 5 railers.
