Any news on Wu Chia-Ching?

Haven't heard any news about him in a while. I know that he had a two year ban, but shouldn't it be lifted by now? Such a pity to see so much talent go to waste by not being able to compete :/

Does somebody know anything about his current status? When is he going to compete in some international events again?

If I remember correctly the ban was placed by Taipei because
Singapore payed him to start playing for them. What I later heard was some rumor, that it might not have worked out so well...

Hopefully someone with some information will chime in as googeling hasen't really been much to help in this matter

Googling for pool news is always fun, as you basically never find what youre looking for.
And BUMP to the top, would like to know whats going on with Wu.

I think the ban is lifted now, but from what I understand his father is demanding appearance money for him to play. He still coaches in Singapore and China. Doing quite well for himself I'm sure. Many top players over here become coaches.

HInt Hint American player/teachers..;)

Thanks Jay for the info =) Somehow I kind of guessed it would be you to know something ;)

Such a waste of talent, not to be competing at the highest level when he obviously has the goods...

I'm not saying that coaching up'n coming stars isn't important, but I became quite a fan and was dissapointed when the ban came. Was kinda hoping he would start competing again.

He is currently grooming Chen Si Ming to become the world's number one player. In China coaches often have contracts with their students that gives them a percentage of the winnings. Perhaps Wu has a similar deal going.

It has been proposed to the WPA that they create an extra class of world professionals who aren't beholden to any particular local organization. This is needed in order to effectively stop these types of bans which take a player's ability to practice their trade.

Wow, no wonder why she is playing incredible in the last 2 years. To win the China Open, Amway Cup, the Phil Open, and a Gold medal for snooker at Asiad are great achievements for anybody, let alone the fact that she is only 17 years old. The day she would become champion of the world is not that far in my opinion, just like her master Wu.

I hope the best for Wu. Hopefully he gets to represent some country in the near future, or as you said none at all =) It would be great to se him play again...

A top Taiwanese pool player with a history of seeking out lucrative cash offers says he has obtained Chinese citizenship and will compete at a tournament in Beijing this month.
Speaking Thursday, Wu Chia-ching told The Associated Press he became Chinese in early April and will debut under his new flag in the upcoming event.

Taiwanese billiards authorities banned him after he applied for Singaporean citizenship in 2009, reportedly in exchange for a rich professional contract. He has not competed professionally since.

Wu won the World Pool-Billiard Association eight-ball and nine-ball championships in 2005.

Relations between China and Taiwan have improved significantly over the past three years. They split amid civil war in 1949.
