Sorry, no pictures.
Sometime in the early 90's I was in NY on business. I found my way to Chelsea Billiards and loved it immediately. I had a couple hours to kill and asked the houseman if anyone played 3-cushion so he introduced me to a nice looking black man so we made a game for cheap stakes. The house guy mentioned ot me several times that he played real good (I guess he didn't want me to get mad at him). We went downstairs to the carom tables and played. We had a great couple games and nobody got hurt - very nice guy.
Anyone think of who that man would be?
Some years later my wife and I were in NY and she wanted to go to Lox around the Clock because of the scene in "Harry Met Sally". I said great, I would like to show you Chelsea...it was now Slate or something like that and was a total yuppie scene. I could leave fast enough.

just for the sake of clarity, these two pictures *are* Julian's but these are two different locations. The top pic is the last location with the Paladium. The black & white photo below it was across the street. I wasted an afternoon researching stories of Julian's because the black & white one didn't make any sense to me.Which is now the latest incarnation of Amsterdam Billiards.
Julian's Billiard Academy was at 138 East 14th Street. The building, which also housed Steve Rubel's & Ian Schrager's "The Palladium", was sold in 1997 and is now dorms for NYU students
