Sarah, are there any other rooms besides Chris's, how about Abruzzos' place? Anything out in the western suburbs? BF

Hey Bigfoot,

Palace Billiards(John Abruzzo's place) is a nice room. I'm not sure about the action but I know they have alot of good players that play leagues out of there.

Quentin Corner Pocket in Palatine is good. I can't think of any others right now. There are a ton of rooms around. I will try to think of some others that might be good. What area are you going to be staying/living?

Palace billiards in villa park. I play in an eight ball league there. Abruzzo and Mike Bandy are in that league.I really don't know about money action there, though.

Wouldn't John Abruzzo and Mike Bandy be considered action players?

I'm sure they are. I just haven't seen them do anything other than play eight ball in our league. Dennis

Do either one of them play very much besides in the league? They don't play in many tournaments in the area.

I don't know. I only go there Mondays on league nights.

Hi Sarah,

While I was in Chicagoland for the Midwest Open, I practiced at "The Green Room". I'm not sure, I think it was in North Aurora. It seemed like a nice place. Any comments? Which room does Tom Karabotsis own?

Incidently, some posts here at AZ mentioned that Cuetopia in Vegas is reopening May 1st. Please add that to Pool Sharks and The Cue Club as places to play. See you at the BCA's.

Tom owns Cue 'N' You up in Grayslake. There are 2 Green Rooms in the Chicagoland are, one in North Aurora and the other in Downers Grove. Both owned by the same people.

Tom also owns a place that just opened up last week called g-CUE in chicago. It is one of the nicest rooms I have ever been to.

G Cue is located at the corner of Randolph and Morgan in Chicago.
Coming off I-94 ,exit west on Randolph to Morgan and make a right.
You can't miss it.

Is there parking available? I like 3 miles from there. :D

Unfortunately, parking is the only downfall of the new place. They have valet parking as far as I know. They are in the process of building a parking lot.

Where's that? Restaurant row on Randolph? I haven't been over there in a while. work on laSalle and Madison. Is Morgan just a bit west of Halsted. Sounds like a good lunchtime joint.

dmg, I have no idea how to help you on that one. I don't know my way around all that well. Maybe someone else here can help you out more than I can.

DMG,
Morgan is a few blocks west of Halsted. The restaurant part of the room is not open yet only the room and bar.

As for parking they have parking available on the northwest corner of Morgan and Lake. The small lot is marked with red and white GCUE signs.

I was there last night(Friday) about 9pm and had no problem finding parking on Randolph. But during the day when everything on Randolph is open my guess is parking will be a nightmare.

It's a very upscale room with matching prices. Beer is $4 a bottle and $2 for a small glass of soda. Table time after 7pm is 10.00 an hour for 1 person and 4.00 each additional person per hour.(3 people = 18.00 hr.)

Overall it's a nice place but not a cheap place to play.
There were 3 of us there about 2 hours , Had 2 beers each and the bill with the table was 60.00 not including tipping the waitress.

It does sound pricey, but I guess you'd expect that in that neighborhood. What was it like? Many tables?

Thank you 8nout for your help. I'm glad someone knows where they are going.

dmg, I believe there are 26 tables. I could be off by a couple though. There is a billiard table as well. It is bi-level. The upstairs is more a pool room and the downstairs is more of a social drinking area with pool tables.

It is pricey, we will see if it works or not. They have a good menu so lunch there might be a good idea.
