Any player still use Schon cues?

Johnny Archer back in the late 80's and into the early 90's played with a Schon. Shane Van Boening also played with a Schon cue as well. I could be incorrect but Schon missed out or was too cheap to sponsor either of these players. I'm thinking it would have been good business to do so.
JA’s cues are warm and dry in the vault well taken care of. All accounted for.

The older Schons from Bob and Evan's tenure almost always hit great. Some are incredible. There's almost a mystical intangible about the older ones that still holds true today. If you know, you know.

I still happily go back to them, even after diving into various customs since getting back into the game. In fact, I should add another, LOL.

In my opinion, and I hope to eat these words, I believe Schons best days are long gone. If I were just starting out today and seeking a good starting point with a new, contemporary cue, I'd look to Mezz.

I’m starting to think it might be time to retire my Schon for a different brand. Maybe Mezz. It’s so hard to find a Mezz cue to try.

There is really no difference between Schon and Mezz quality, and even hit feel with similar joints they are very very similar. Try playing around with different shafts instead.

I have a Schon SL-5 but I no longer use it because I need a wrapless cue due to a problem with my fingertips on my grip hand.

I can't say I've played with a better cue.

That is funny🥳, but think Pro Players play with what is free, or 💵, is attached to use.

Just like other sport pros.

Nike pays Tiger Woods big bucks to dress in Nike cloths.

I think he played with the cues that were in his family in the earlier days before he started the Cuetec sponsorship. I think Cuetec was his first cue sponsor, even in the beginning the R360 he played with was one a friend of his gave him. After that he got the official $ from Cuetec.

They look like old granpa cues. Would fit great in a hunting cabin I suppose…? Even conservative Mezz look like space age comparatively. Besides, it pronounces Kööön, which is swedish for gender. Ridiculous.
Who cares what the design looks like.? A Merry Widow is fine as long as the cue plays to your satisfaction.
I’m thinking you’re hung up on cue esthetics versus how it plays. As your cue acuity expands from trying
lots of cues, you’ll discover even a cue design you dislike can still feel & play like a Stradivarius in your hands.
Conversely, a design you fall in love with can play like a duck; it always comes down to the cue maker, not the look.

Think Schon market is the player who want a sold, well build Cue, Made in the USA.

They are like a Ford, Dodge, GMC, or Chrverlot basic two door no frills no bell or whistles work truck.

More function then fancy work of art, limited editions, or paying for some builders fame & name because they are in vogue this week.🥳

When first started playin, Schon cues were the pinnacle cues to own. Just curious if any youngster play with Schon, or are they becoming obsolet?

Eddie
I'm almost obsolete. I'm enjoying a Schon H4. Something about it. Especially with a 12.4 REVO

Schon is not a cheap Cue, most of the local in my are play with Special Made in China.

I say most is like 60-70%, many think paying for good layered or non layered tip over $5.00 is a disaster.

Trying to educate is not happening. So I just smile.

How about a little proof reading before posting. Pretty hard to tell what you are trying to say here🤷🏻‍♂️

At my places we have around 10 new Schön cues 4 sale, lots of Mezz and Exceed and some IQ cues, anyone who are interested in a cue are free to try some of our demo cues from all brands and shafts. And I notice that todays players do not even look at or wants to try a Schön cue, it just never happens.

I love my older Schön cues from the 80/90s, but I do not play with them anymore since they are way behind in playability and technology vs newer cues like Mezz/Exceed etc.

I have been playing with Schon cues since 90', and have zero issues with my older or newer Schon cues alike. They all hit great. How a cue feels and hits is a personal issue. It's been discussed many, many times on here that just because a certain pro plays with a cue or uses a certain tip, doesn't make it the best cue/tip available. Find what works for you and use it. Some of the best players to have ever played used a Schon cue, and while technology has evolved the market, the tried and true Schon is still around. My current cue is a wrapless Schon, only a handful of years old, and it plays every bit as well as the first of my Schon cues that I purchased back in 90'.
