Ted was the best 14.1 player in the state for many years, and took on all challengers. Steve Cook tried and failed to beat Ted at 14.1. Ted would gamble it up on his home table. That is, until Johnny Ervolino stopped by in the late 70's.

Johnny and Ted hooked up in a $7,000 (14K total) match to 200. It was the biggest 14.1 game I had ever heard of. Johnny put an end to Ted's illustrious Straight Pool career that day, and I never heard of him playing anyone for big money again.

That's also where Flyboy was from. I used to play Ted once in a while. His wife was the one who had the gamble in the family. She'd bet you 3 or 4 hundred a game, while Ted was only betting fifty. Nice people, as I recall.

Thanks all for the replies I know Ted played alot of great players and It is great to hear stories of people that are gone but not forgotten. Thanks again, Matt

Matt, they are right about one thing. Ted was a super nice guy, who loved to play Straight Pool. He played good and he would gamble. That about sums it up.

Ted Elias

Ted's first wife died in 1969. I met Ted in 1972 and we were married in 1975 until his death in 1998. I have many stories of Ted..

If you were married to him when he played Patcheye, I would love to hear that story.
George Rood thought Ted was a better player than most people realized, and George was a pretty fine judge.
I hope you are well
