On a 12-foot snooker table, cut the black ball to the corner pocket to your left shooting from the green spot. This is a "half-hour" shot. Maybe not more than 90 degrees, but I think outside english is required to get enough speed.

I've done that plenty of times on a snooker table many years ago before I gave up snooker and concentrated on pool. It is a hard shot, but it is actually easier than it looks due to the extreme sidespin throwing the 7-ball into one of the cornet pockets.

I did this shot as a proposition bet for many years.
Outside english is not required...it just makes accuracy more difficult.
If you use two cues to show the right angle you'll see that the black
ball can be overcut from the green spot.

The value of using english to cut and to transmit is best demonstrated
on Vern Elliot's 'impossible bank'.....and like you say in another post, new
or waxed balls make it truly impossible.
Chalking the object ball at the contact point makes that bank a hanger.

I'm pleased to see you use the small 'e' for 'english'...I felt I was in a
minority for most of my life on this term.:smile:
