Anybody like one piece cues?

I'll admit, every once in a while I like to pull out one of my Lucasi 707 one piece cues and shoot it for a while.

It leaves a lot wanting (balance, etc), but do any of you guys ever like to play with a one piece cue for any reason?
 
If I had a home table and could find a one piece cue with a balance point I like (around 19") and a good shaft taper then I'd probably use it all the time. Not sure it's easy to find a one piece cue that can hit that balance requirement though, most tend to be more rear balanced than that. And I've never had a chance to play with a one piece cue that had a nice modern taper to it, though I'm sure it'd be easy to have done.
 
I wanted a one piece hit for my own snooker cue so as an experiment I melded a radial laminated shaft section on a full splice butt by using a glued tenon and a metal screw. I was amazed at how close to a one piece hit it has and the weight is more forward so it has great balance. Everyone that has hit with it loves the cue.

Best hit you can get IMO, if it wouldnt be such a hassle to carry around a 60+ inch cue case around I would definitely have a custom made one, as I'm sure many people would
 
I was afraid that cutting a bar cue would change the feel, but I can't tell any difference with mine. I just wish I could find a tip that doesn't flatten.
 
eh, I seriously doubt anyone could ever tell the difference if they were blind folded if they used a wood to wood joint and a one piece cue. And the couple that think they could, does it make the ball go any straighter ?? nope.
 
I would love to have a one-piece cue that has been cored out to shift the weight forward, like as far forward as an old predator sneaky pete with a heavy uni-loc. I know Jerry Rauenzahn has made atleast one one-piece triple re-cut.

Pretty neat looking and it likely costs about the same as a "contribution" made to the District Attorneys office out of the blue about the same time your kid gets pulled over after the republican national convention holding 32 1/2 grams of china white and the under-aged niece of the police chief over-dosing in the back seat. Purdy spendy I'd say.

What's weird is that these Lucasi 707 cues seem to have been made in two pieces, then the joint glued. That always pissed me off, but I would assume there's some hardware in there that would be helping with the weighting.

Maybe that's why the snooker cues have the brass ferrules. It wouldn't take much weight that far forward to get them to balance right.

Not just right off the rack. Years ago I had a one piece I used in bars but I had re-tapered it and added a good tip. I don't think I would like playing with most of the cues the general public have to play with right off the rack in most pool rooms. It may be like giving up the 8 or 7 to have to use one of those.

old titlist

i bought an old titlist that i was going to cut and convert. when it arrived the label looked great and i sighted down the cue it was dead straight. i could not bring myself to whack it in half. so a new tip, and semi-repolish and its in my cue rack in my room. plays great
 
with so many people here always focusing on "hit", I would have suspected that many would have tried both custom one piece cues and also wooden thread two piece cues

a custom sneaky pete one piece seems like a great option for someone with a home table and probably not too expensive

personally i think hit is overrated, just seen too many people win with all types of cues
