I demoed one of the 500K versions at a woodworkers convention yesterday. I was amazed at how clean, smooth, and vibrationless it cut/carved wood while being handheld. Has anyone mounted one of these high speed turbines in a cnc? The .0005 runout may be enough for many jobs, it holds 1/8 inch shank bits.
It should easily mount to any cnc, they also have a simple collar available. The air consumption is quite minimal. I have a 50K handheld die grinder which looks similar in size but this unit is 10X the spindle speed. Plus my grinder uses far more air, than this little demon.

Power Carver

I used this set-up for inlaying the tops. Now I use my CNC for everything.
Has a high pitch whine like the dental drills.
Compressor too loud if in the same room.
Spindle spins so fast, there's no bite when cutting.

I was going to mount in on my CNC, but, Wolfgang Engineering's
Spindle is cheaper and does O.K. for my CNC work.
Plus, the PowerCarver I have uses 1/16" shank Bits, so, I could not find a large assortment of diameters of Bits for that small shank.
Alton..

About 12 years ago I looked at one of these or a similar brand at a woodworkers trade show. They were using it for engraving rifle receivers and carving items. The one I looked at used dental cutters. I asked about using it for cue inlaying work using it in a pantograph and was told that they didn't think it would work as it had no horsepower at all so would easily slow and come to a stop and break off the bit when trying to use it for cutting at any depth.
