Anybody want to play Alex….

I saw RA’s last action. He played Harry at Best Billiards on the 10’ box in Vegas. Harry won the first 2 games(greatest Harry ever played 8 & out from nowhere and 4 & stick and 4& out)

RA wasn’t too happy. He looked kinda over by me-I was off to the side pretty far from the table. RA said “fuck a pool room” twice in a row. He got this look in his eye. I knew Harry was done. Zero chance RA was gonna lose. No way RA was going out like that. He was a winner in pool his whole life. He got into a trance and Harry didn’t have a prayer.

RA got up and beat Harry 4 in a row in about 45-60 minutes. He sat back down and looked at me and said “Fuck a pool room”. His words not mine. I knew RA, I also knew not to speak to him then-at that moment. So I didn’t respond. I just nodded my head.

After 10 minutes passed Harry walked up to RA and spoke to him and shortly I joined the conversation. Harry and RA were very cordial thr game was over. $500/rack. Harry pleaded with RA to lose some weight and take care of himself better. RA said “I eat like a bird, it’s the damn beer”. He wasn’t lying he liked beer on ice. I didn’t say much.

John Mataya was there and Eddie Robinson and a few other old school guys.

Then RA and someone I can’t recall left the pool room. I knew that was his last action. I told Mrs Fatboy that was a moment in history we just saw. The end.

Sadly I was right shortly after RA passed away.🥲

I have a couple other RA stories for later.

Don’t ban me for quoting RA-thx Fatboy (it’s important to get history accurate)
RA stories , heck yeah !!!!

I totally get it , I’m just this way and always will be . I gotta see it man , gotta see it !!!!!!! Please let me play someone EVEN and they play one handed ! It ain’t happening! ID RATHER LOSE THAN DO NOTHING! I’m sure they are reading this right now , and if they are , then read carefully,,,,,, I will play anyone in the world my two hands against them playing one handed on a 41/4 9ft diamond or GC , 9 Ball and OR 1 Pocket ( My Choice ) …..I will also let anyone in the world play the 9 ball ghost on a 41/4 pocket 9ft Diamond or GC . NOT ONE SET EITHER, I’m 52 , I like to play till you bleed 🩸, pool is a grind so let’s grind !!!!!!! I know I’m a sucker and I’m ok with it , come GT$
It got all QUIET and ____ ,

Jacked up-unlikely

Using the rails 1 handed it’s amazing what can be done. Used to be lots of 1 hand action back in the 80’s. Big $ action. It was never cheap action-as a side note. I was on the rail and saw it for years in person. Bet lots on it as well-when rail bets were a thing.

Best
Fatboy 😃
There was a player from Enid,Ok named Randy Estes that could break and string racks of 9b on a barbox shooting one-handed jack'd-up. He was also a big cueball specialist just a tad under Matlock speed. Randy's no longer with us. Helluva nice guy to boot. RIP RE.

I wish I was 51 again....I remember vaguely.

All I can say is if you keep that offer up eventually the right person will bite.

The one thing that may stop 99.9% of the one hand winders is the 4.25" pockets.....

Even the best of the best would probably walk away from a tight table.

Oh man.... the more I talk about it, the more that nightmare of a night comes back.

I may need counseling after all.... lol

I made a clever comment and wouldn't you know..... I didn't mean to.... lol.

I can never be clever on purpose.

Being clever on purpose is like trying to flake on/off on purpose..

In all seriousness, I've always thought my strongest attribute was my ability to lay down when needed, but be able to play at my best on demand after laying down.

I know a lot of players that were much better than me that couldn't do that. They would always lay down, but then have a hard time getting back in gear.

Don't get me wrong, I was never a killer or anything like that. I was at best a chump that thought he was just a little better than he actually was.

In the first 5 to 6 years of serious play, I donated more $$$$ than the average losing gambler did in their first 20 years of play.

I played well enough to beat 99% of the amateur players on the planet, but that didn't keep me from losing to them anyways.

I was a terrible game "maker". For example.... I would give the 7-out when I was suppose to only give the last 3.

It cost me:

A lot of time
Two marriages
Several rental properties
A REAL good job

..... before I got smart or should I say: "before I quit pool".

Sad but true

So essentially, you were a good SANDBAGGER, as was many other players you knew?

We should NEVER have to read another opinion of APA sandbagging on this forum again!

Just my $0.02

I've never played APA or any other league or even a tournament that participated in a league.

Having said that, yes, I did lay down from time to time when a potential fish was within my grasp.

What I find funny is:

A pro tells a story about how he laid down while using a fake name and people think it was just part of pool.

Well, is it so different that a stronger amateur player does the same?

If you think it's a different situation I would love to know why?

Don’t apologize for making a good game.
To me, the rules of poker apply..if you can make a good hand look like a bad hand, you doing good.

Thanks for chiming in. Yes, making a good game is the most important thing to learn.

I'm not talking about being a nit.... just being smart and not tipping your hand.

Today most try and lunk all the nits and good game makers into one pile.... its just not the case.

Sometimes I think I'm not suited for the world today.

You're not. Most average citizens prefer honest people.

You hustlers can call it what you want, but all you are doing is SCAMMING people out of their money. You all ought to be proud of yourselves...NOT!
Well, lol.... using your logic:

Every time you sell a cue, but don't tell how much you have in it your are SCAMMING people.

If I was asked outright, I would certainly tell them what I paid for it. They either buy it or they don't. For what it's worth, I have never in my life, not once, have I ever sold anything (cues included) for more than I paid for it. I usually sell stuff for much less than I should because I'd rather have some cash than some item sitting around doing absolutely nothing for me. Just his past Sunday, I sold a motorcycle for $1,000 less than I asked for it (and far below blue book price) because I didn't want to inspect, license, and buy a new battery for it. It was just sitting next to my other motorcycle collecting dust, so I thought that the money I accepted was better than a never ridden motorcycle that as about to cost me money (plus more depreciation). So...your analogy about me selling cues holds NO water. Zero. Nice try though!

You pool "gamblers" are the ones that come on here all the time and criticize leagues (mostly APA for it's sandbagging), but in reality, a lot of y'all aren't nothing but a bunch of blowhards deceiving people out of their money by not showing your true speed until a game is "made". Then upping your playing speed when the weight gets adjusted. Why not man-up and make a game based on your true speed from the get-go? And if you can't make a suitable game, don't play? I've seen many posts on here using the terms "stealing" and "robbing" when it comes to games that were made.
I'm happy for you guys when you trick some poor fellow out of his rent money. Must be a proud moment in your lives!

I know I'm gonna pi$$ a lot of people off on this forum with these comments, but guess what? I don't give a fat rat's a$$. I don't need gambling to enjoy pool. I don't need people in my life that aren't honest. Hell, to be honest, I don't really need AZBilliards in my life.

That said, I'm done responding to you or any other so-called "gambler" that comes on here and argues my point. Have a good day and keep on keeping on!

Gamblers are like gladiators…not for the average Joe…we compete with those who step into the arena.…
….I‘ve never won a dime from anyone who wasn’t trying to take my money.
I got no problem with people that don’t gamble….except those who tell me I shouldn’t gamble.
