I once laid my sneaky Pete cue on the table to rack. My opponent decided that he wanted to try it. He figured it was a bar cue and was laying a claim to it. He was deaf to my explanation that it was My cue. He reinforced his claim by putting a 2 handed death grip on it as we stood toe to toe. So when my cordial explanation was ignored, I reached down below the joint as he tightened both hands above the joint. I gently started to unscrew. If the dispute was elevated to violent means, I would have the Billy club butt and he would be left shafted.
His look of amazement was priceless. He released before the last thread was cleared. We were able to continue amicably. Shrug

A long time ago my wife had to work the Friday after Thanksgiving and fortunately I didn’t. For some damn reason I left my plain jane Mobley in my car which was blocking hers in the driveway, so she decided to take my car. She noticed my cue in the car and decided to take it out in case I wanted to hit the room, so she set it on the bumper while she loaded her stuff. And yes she forgot all about it and drove off. So some neighbor got a really nice cue. But that’s not the worst part…the cue was in an old George Case that was a gift. Don’t really care about the cue but I would pay top dollar for that case today. That case is worth more than the cue to me.

This thread sucks btw. I hadn’t thought about that in several years.

Taking your cue to the BR seems perfectly fine as it is the surest way of knowing it was safe and secure.
By chance, does anyone also carry a break cue? If so, what about a jump cue or is your cue a combo?

How about carrying more than than a break cue and playing cue? Gosh, I see a lot of cases at the pool hall,
especially when there’s leagues or tournaments that carry more than 2 cues? How many of you carry a 3x5
or even bigger case? When you play and have to go to the head, taking your cue with you is easy & protects
that very cue. So what about your cue case and your other cues? Wouldn’t that also be at risk or do you also
sling that over your shoulder like your were an airport traveler?

I always ask someone to watch my pool gear and since I carry a 6x12 cue case, I got a lotta stuff at risk. Otherwise,
It seems like I’d need six (6) 1x2 cue cases clearly identifying which cue is inside. The only way to be absolutely sure
is to only carry one (1) pool cue with you and I am not going to do that. So how many readers carry more than 1 cue?

Try this one: 2:00 am in the parking lot of a nightclub and putting your cue on the top of your car as you were kissing a girl and helping her into your car. Drove off down US 90 and did not think about my cue for a couple of weeks. I hope someone got it before it got run over.

I commonly see people carry their JB rugged 3x5/4x8 with'em to the restroom during a big tournament/open. Not surprisingly I don't see the old timers do the same, though to be fair the majority of the older players I run into play and break with 1 cue, that's easy to take with you

I like to wash my hands frequently during a session, as it helps the shaft glide smoothly along my bridge, as well as keeps the shaft clean. That means frequent trips to the restroom. Until I'm familiar and comfortable with a pool room and its regulars, I leave my preferred playing and break cues at home, and stick with my bar cue (in a cheap 1x2 vinyl case) for both breaking and playing, so I only have a single cue to watch.

After hand washing, hands are clean so I hang on to the moist paper towel and finish drying with the door opener towel. Then I take the first one to the table to wipe off chalk. Who's with me?

Lost a converted house cue at a little bar/poolroom in Richmond, IN. I was maybe 20 and still new to this life. They had a .25 and .50 Ring game every day and I was killing it. The local guys took a dislike to me and when I went to the bathroom I left my cue on the table. When I came back it was gone. Must have been a dozen guys sitting around and no one saw anything! That cue never came back.

That's exactly what happened to mine!!!
We should've taken Greg's advice and took it in with us!!!

The worst part about having my Karella stolen was that it looked very similar to a popular Schon cue and whenever I would see someone with a cue that looked just like the one I had ripped off, I'd get all wound up and mentally begin the process of flipping out on someone.

It was never my actual cue.

The Karella wasn't even worth 500 bucks but I'd still have a reaction every time.
