I am looking to see if anyone has any old videos, dvds for sale, like Johnson City tournaments that were televised,i am sure there was some great matches, are these lost in time? There were so many great players,Shorty,Red,Lassitter that it would be a shame if it doesnt exist.:(

Johnston City DVD

I have some JC footage on dvd. It starts out with DeLiberto, Allen, Omaha Fats, Weinie Beenie, Danny Jones and Ed Kelly each performing a trick shot. Then it has a 1967? match, Lassiter vs Boston Shorty in 1P and 14. Next is Worst vs Shorty in 14.1 and 9 ball from 1965?. Quality is not the greatest, but is still good to watch. Running time is about 1 1/2 hours. PM me if interested.

As Someone Who Went To College 20 Miiles From The Tournament And Was There Every Day For 6 Years During The 4-5week Event, (i Am Stupid), I Would Love To Have Anything From That Tournament. Abc Must Have Tapes As They Televised The Finals Live At Least 1 Year. A Friend Of Mine Stole The Plaque From The Event But Won't Sell It To Me. If You Get Responses, Please Send Me A Note.

I Played In Steve Mizerak's Senior Masters In November, And He Said He Found Someone Who Taped His 4 Consecutive Us Open Straight Pool Championships In The Early 70's In Chicago And Will Be Selling Them Soon As Dvd's. I Tried To Write A Check Then As I Want A Copy But He Refused As They Weren't Near A Deal.

Look up,that man can help you with the JC tape.I was always curious of if there was a tape, because they had tv coverage but who knows sometimes, they might end up getting destroyed.:(

I heard a story on news radio about how film stored would be ruined after a few decades and that many celluloid treasures were found to be lost forever. Save Johnston City!

Nice!!!

I ordered the dvd from Mick56. It appears to be a recording off a screen so it has a great old feel of the event. They are recordings of ABC's coverage of the two events in question. For those who complain about the commentators of today, you have to see/hear Jim McKay on these . He knows nothing about pool...it's quite comical.

I have seen Luther Lassitor and Shorty play many years ago but never saw Harold Worst play. Shorty did not play his best, but it was worth it just to see how great Mr. Worst strokes a ball. It's no wonder he was considered, by many, to be the best all round player of his time. The dvd is a great slice of history and I recommend it to those that would like a well rounded library.

Thank you, Mike, for making this copy for me.

I take it back about Jim McKay now that I've watched the whole dvd. He is a great announcer that doesn't know that much about pool but is very pleasant to listen to, and there's a really good interview with Harold Worst.

Sorry for jumping the gun.
