Anyone have experience w Viking Seige CF Shaft?

I have a Viking Seige as well as their LD Inviktus and Vikore shafts.

I have also learned not to waste my thumbs trying to convince anyone here they are any good. People (understandably) just won't forgive Viking for all that Pearloid / Mother of Toilet Seat they used 30 years ago

LOL :-) I totally hear you! I actually have a 20 year old Viking F-50 that I LOVE that I had made with the Sapphire Blue Toilet Seat points and rings! I thought it was beautiful then, and I still think it is today!

I do like the Seige, but the Inviktus is my favorite and a really great LD shaft that nobody buys. Predator marketing runs circles around most other brands.

30 years ago? I think you meant to say people can't forgive all the atrocious design and all the Pearloid / Mother of Toilet Seat they have been using continuously for over 30 years. It screams cheap and low quality and they never had and never will have any chance for real success until/unless they completely overhaul and change their looks/design/aesthetics, especially away from plastics.

I agree, they need to dump those designs. But they do actually offer plenty of much nicer pearoid free models today.

i flipped a viking with that purple pearl stuff, owner still loves it. i don't think it was that bad. maybe i haven't seen enough of them.

You guys are all just a bunch of jealous haters! I love my 20 year old Viking! :) Be sure and zoom in to appreciate all of those beautiful blue rings that match my daughter's eyes! The picture is actually poor quality. It's a really beautiful cue in person even more so.

I found this one, with the Vikore shaft, as a $180 Ebay closeout...for my wife.

Agreed, but when I said it screams cheap and low quality, what I meant was that it screams that Viking is cheap and low quality, not just that those particular cues are low quality and their others aren't. Even if it isn't actually true it is the very strong impression it creates.

Viking will never get rid of that perception and have much chance for any good success until they completely or at least almost completely stop using cheap looking plastic in their cues, and stop with the busy, gaudy, stupid looking designs that aren't aesthetically pleasing as well. Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but they aren't exactly selling cues like gangbusters either so the people have clearly been voting their tastes with wallets.

In short they need significantly different designers with a completely different taste and vision than what they have ever had in their history because design and aesthetics has always been their big problem.

Is the preference just a personal thing or is there a difference in the way they play? I will be buying one soon and there is very little information to help my decision. I have a Viking cue with the stock V-Pro as well as a Predator 314. I can pocket balls really well with the V-Pro (some days it feels like I am thinking them into the pocket) but the LD 314 makes it so much easier to move the cue ball around (almost like the cue ball knows where I want it to go) but I can't sink balls as well. Also, the finish could be quite a bit smoother and the insert does not fit the pin nearly as tightly as it should. The low deflection characteristics are impressive but it's not the shaft for me.

I only been playing seriously for less than 2 years but I am committed enough to go ahead and buy a shaft that I can keep, instead of trying to do a little better, I'd rather buy something I can use indefinitely.

I'm sure it's just my personal preference but I definitely believe the Vikore, Seige and Inviktus are a measurable step up from the V-pro.
