Im not knocking Tiger X Products Because i've owned quite a few Tiger X shafts and Just Got another. Never had any problems with brass inserts. But first experience i had was i sent a radial shaft off to have a tiger phenolic insert put in when i got it back it would only screw down 3/4 way. I used a white grease to lubricate threads tried again still wouldnt, backed off tightened tighter with almost all my strength started going down and crack split the shaft. Well i order a tiger x shaft the other day with 3/8x10 for my other cue. got it out screwed it down well what do you know about 2/3 way down wont go. So from experience i just used little wd 40 tightened down backed off about 20 times till i had blisters and some of the threads from inserts shaved out some doesnt look good but the shaft screws down like it should now. And im ordering a radial tiger x for a friend of mine next week and im concerned about it. Is this just my luck or an issue with the phenolic inserts.

Their phenolic inserts are tight & thats a common issue with big pins & the X shafts. Be careful putting stuff in as lubes then trying to muscle it down...if it was just wood, you would of no doubt cracked it by now. There is no place for the lube to go & will cause a blow out crack between the side of the pin & the female wall. The correct fix is a simple one but you'll need a tap. Just run the tap in & out a time or two & it'll screw down smoothly. Its not so much the shaft hole i.d. being too small...its more like there is some debris trapped in the threads.

Hey JL!
Call me or pm me, I will talk to Tony @ Tiger about it and I am sure he will make it right. Also, one thing to think about is that a lot of cuemakers do their own pins and sometimes is a good idea to send them a blank so they can tap the shaft.

or crowncitycory on here. never had problems with any tiger shafts. inserts need tapped from time to time. brass and phenolic. ask any mcdaniel owned looking for a new shaft

ob1 actually makes a 5x16-14 modified to help with this

Dave,
As you know I am a Tiger dealer and I was the one that sold the shaft. Already pm'd JL. I would like to see that shaft so I can send it to Tony @ Tiger, so if there is an issue they can get it corrected.
