Anyone know of 9' tables in Iowa?

boogieman

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that ping.
I am going to purchase a table after I get a room remodeled. I took a wall out, now the room is 15' 6" x 28' so I can fit a 7', 8', or 9'...

Anyway, the only thing around in southeast Iowa (Ottumwa) is bar boxes. I got playing on an 8' bar box in a local pool hall and much preferred it to the 7' boxes. I was thinking about getting an 8' table with tighter pockets and drop pockets but someone suggested a 9' table. I actually think I would like a 9' but would really like to play on one for a while before making a decision.

Does anyone know a place within a hundred miles or so with a 9' table? I have pretty much googled it to death, finding Big Dog Billiards in Des Moines which is closed/soon to open/pushed back again.

Thanks!

P.S. Please feel free to discuss the merits of different table sizes.

last i knew, Donny Mccoys place just outside urbandale, on the way to grimes on hwy 141, had one 9ft table set up. not sure if that helps but its a thought......

The Blue Note in Marshalltown has 2 - 9' and a snooker table and 2 - 3C Tables

I've heard there's a 3 Cushion table somewhere in Ottumwa. Do you know where? Love to play some of the
locals when I come through now and again working JD.

Yeah, there is a 3 cushion. It's a Brunswick, similar to a crown I believe. It goes for $5 an hour. The place is called Burdock's Pool and Games. It's on East Main on the North side of the road, in between a Breadaux Pizza and a Casey's gas station.

I go there a lot, it's not too bad of a place but nothing spectacular. It has 2 8' bar boxes and about 5 or 6 7' bar boxes as well as the 3 cushion table. Bring your own chalk and definitely your own cue. It's open 2pm till 8pm everyday except Tuesday(closed Tuesday).

I have an awesome Oak 8 footer I want to sell. It has eagle claw legs and it plays well. Let me know if you are interested. I want to get rid of it because I want to get a diamond 7 footer. I cant fit a 9 footer in my playing area.

Corner Pocket in Downtown Ames has one 9' GC IV and two 9' Anniversaries. Also has 12' snooker table if you want a challenge on a big table. Don't try it at home :yikes:

Thanks boogieman.

I should be in town in Jan some time. Never leave town without chalk and cue. Now I can spend some time swinging my cue rather than sitting in my room.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I was at The Corner Pocket In Ames about 4 months ago. They now have 2 Gold Crowns along with the 12 foot snooker and Aniversary. Great prices and a great bar.

The Blue Note in Marshalltown (formerly Jilly's) is a great place also where you can play either pocket billiard games, 3 cushion billiards, golf or snooker. Great bar also.

Corner pocket and blue note sounds promising.

Oh, by the way, Burdock's is getting a snooker table. Well, it's there but being set up. I can't tell as the rails are off but it looks to be 8'... It's basically bare slate and still needs shimmed/set up and needs cloth still.
