I've seen plenty of leather pocket tables without the staining. As said above its from whatever is being used on the balls. A good vacuuming followed by a Woolite-n-water wipedown should get that stuff off. From the leather pocket baskets? Looks like the same color.
Kinda doubt that. Played in SMOKY bars a TON and haven't seen stains like this. Wax/cleaner is most likely culprit. It almost looks like the discoloration that happens from tobacco smoke.
Maybe the balls get coated and the areas near the pockets are the "high traffic" areas on the table. And the cushions could be from smoker's fingers? Just a guess.
Given it’s only on the cushion nose, that’s gotta be from the balls too.… the cushions could be from smoker's fingers? Just a guess.
Pretty obvious by the pockets, and also on the rails where the balls make contact, balls are a set of 15yr old aramith pros. 860 felt is maybe 2yrs old at this point.View attachment 656166
Getting ready to recover the table and would like to not have this happen again if possible.
It's on the ball lines too. Photo Shop will remove it.Given it’s only on the cushion nose, that’s gotta be from the balls too.

stuff on top is most likely bleed-thru/rub-off from the noses.Actually looks like the the whole rolling surface has yellowed. Could be the balls but it's on the top of the rails too.
Thanks, kind of thought it might be from the polish, but I've only polished the balls once, guess I didn't do a great job cleaning them up, it's a personal table and no smoking. Have a new set of am tournament balls coming when the new felt is put on, as my teens got into playing this game like air hockey and basically messed up all my balls slamming them around the table (and a few that dented the walls) until I banned the game from the house lol. Thanks for the replies, will be more careful with the cleaner/polisher next time.
Also changes how much side spin reaction (angle change) you get off the rails. It gets sticky on the cushion nose tips and makes the balls hop if not taken care of.
