Popular opinion is that it's an old school pre-split Joss. Bill Stroud does not think it's one of his after he left. He's sure it's not a Joss while he was still there. Dan Janes said that he's made so many cues, that he's not sure if it's one of his or not. Richard Black had it in his hands, and says it's not one of his. I can't get a hold of Bill McDaniel, but the original pilot is squared off without any chamfers like some of his were. The shaft farthest from the but on top of the guitar is the original shaft. It's also the shaft without the joint protector in the second pic. The brass insert was loose, so I had to re-epoxy it in. I then cleaned it up a bit, and it's a bit smaller and cleaner now. It's shown next to an older Tim Scruggs cue for reference. Any help would be truly appreciated. Please PM with any questions. Thanks all, Dom.
