Anyone personally know this person?

Several years ago, I agreed with a person to purchase something and send the money through walmart.
It was not that much and a great test, maybe a $ 50.00 item. I received the information, went to walmart processed the paperwork, and never did receive the item........... if your really concerned about a person, use one of the people here who provide a service to receive the merchandise and the payment and take care of both parties.

But, this will cost you more than ebay fees.
If you don't receive your merchandise, paypal is a pretty inexpensive attorney.

To me, if I am the seller, I actually encourage the person to use paypal and I am most happy to
pay the fees as I want my customer to feel safe and have a buyers protection.

If I wanted something really bad, I would pay the fee for a service instead of sending money through walmart. Now of course, if I have had a good relationship with a person and it was a close drive, then the walmart transaction would be great for both of you. The closest walmart to me is 20 miles away.

Good Post though as your suggestion is a great idea if it's good for both parties. I also have done a bank wire transfer as I have had a customer go to his bank and my bank officer called their bank officer and arranged the transfer without either me or my customer in their offices.
All the buyer has to do is sign the permission sheet for their banker to send the money.
 
I don't have much experience w pay pal. I know I've had $60 in there for a while. I guess I could transfer it back to my bank, then pull it and go to Walmart and send it. Yeah, kinda pita when the alternative of just PayPal ing to ya. That may be the only place the buyer has recreation money. You know if ur married or something :)
 
I don't go to Walmart to buy stuff from Walmart. I sure as heck am not going there to buy stuff from you.

Walmart closed the two stores closest to me. I've purchased thousands of $$ from eBay, I've done $$$,$$$s on PayPal (buy and sell). Never a bum deal for me. I know they are out there but I haven't run into them.
 
Then don't sell him the cue,simple as that. Find someone who will deal the way you want to deal. I would never do a deal like you suggest,that's just me though !!!

I'll throw my $.02 in on here. As a seller, when I'm dealing with someone that is acting...fishy or suspicious, etc. or if they don't have any feedback or little feedback. I would much rather do a Wal-Mart money pay instead of PayPal.

Using Wal-Mart to Wal-Mart, they send the money from their local Wally World, I go to mine and pick up the cash...then send the cue.

There is no risk of a PayPal charge back if the card they use on PayPal was stolen or account hacked or whatever the reason may be. Or let's say a buyer could always open a claim with PayPal and claim that the cue wasn't as described or some other nonsense, then you're fighting to defend yourself.

This is one reason as a seller that you should NEVER accept a PayPal gift for payment, unless you know the buyer or they have a great reputation. From my understanding a PayPal gift can easily turn against you if it comes up as being a fraudulent transaction.

I've done the Wal-Mart to Wal-Mart on several cue deals and other online transactions and the buyer didn't object at all. If the funds are less than $1000 it's not very much at all really and as a matter of fact some buyers have preferred it since they can pay in cash at Wal-Mart and not have to worry about setting up a credit card or bank account on PayPal.

Obviously for this to work the buyer has to trust the seller...100%. If I were the BUYER there is no way I'd send cash via Wal-Mart unless the seller was someone who obviously could be trusted, had good reputation, etc. Then I would do it with no qualms as it would only help build my reputation at the same time.

Again...just my opinion really. If a buyer doesn't like it they can move on, no harm no foul in my opinion.

Steve, everything I've done is PayPal seems kinda weird you're suspicious of someone wanting to use it. Only problem I had was someone negotiated a price then didn't send it as a gift and taxes came out. I think it's highly unwarranted to not allow someone to use PayPal. I know you're an all angles type, but this is just strange.

Read the post just above yours, the reason he gives is exactly what I am talking about, the buyer is suspicious, I on the other hand have an EXCELLENT reputation for selling cues, and not only that I also own my business in the billiard industry, Action 24/7 Billiard Clothing. And I have done hundreds of hundreds of transactions online with people all over the world. I have MUCH more to lose the buyer who has hardly any reputation at all. And has nothing really to lose at all other than time driving to Walmart.

Most people have not taken into consideration, what I just told you, and the post that is right above your post. He is spot on with what he says...........

Just sayin....but by putting up the item for sale, you've already decided you'll have to be driving to a store to ship it. You don't get to play both sides of the coin. If you don't want to use PayPal, then move on and stop trying to ruin their reputation by trashing their preferred transaction method.

And so why is this buyer suspicious? Because he only wants to use PayPal and he is new to AZ? Are you serious? In this thread we've already established that there are many members who would only do a deal using PayPal (including myself). And if you don't want to sell to a new member, that seems like your issue not his. Please stop calling this AZ member "suspicious" unless you have something else with which you can substantiate this view.

And as for 24/7 action...I've never heard of you... You have no reputation with me. I've heard of several billiard supply retailers, a number of casemakers, a herd of cue makers, a bunch of tip makers, a couple rack template makers, lots of streamers, a few table makers, and a number of billiard apparel makers...but I've never heard of you. To me you are just another AZ member with 17 itraders.
