Anyone seen a Pool table in High-Shools?

Contact the local Goodwill stores and the alike, they pick up and throw away at LEAST one bar table per yr. Then talk the local table repair shop into fixing the coin mech, redo the cloth, have ea game a quarter and that alone will pay back the school for its costs and upkeep, + the table guy can create future income on the cloth replacement. Heck, you may get enough coin drop to payoff the install guy in 3 mths, the rest is for the program from then on. If there was enough left over, it could subsidize a retail cue area.

I was planning on purchasing the table myself, maybe hold a few fund raiser tournaments in the area. The local league operator, Roy Pastor runs the junior league my son plays in, after I find out if anything can be done in the school I will talk with him. Want to try for a 9 footer if they have the space. I keep getting told the local Boston Billiards that shut down near me still has some of their GCIII tables that they were selling for well under 1k.

I'm not too worried about the cost of house cues, balls, etc..., but if I can get a big cue company to donate some plain cues to be used there, can't hurt in teaching kids what good equipment feels like.

I bought a lot of Olhausen tables at auction about ten years ago and when I had two left I got a call from the local HS. What a relief it was when that army of teenaged boys showed up to haul them away after dealing with 8 of them myself. As far as I know they still have them there but have not used them for anything but recreation. They were almost new nine footers that I paid $ 4800 for the whole room including lights, cues, fixtures and tables. I was asking $1200 each for them. Those last two were the only ones where I wasn't beat down in price. God bless the taxpayers!!

Tennis, Football, Baseball, some have Golf (like the Jr/Sr High my son goes to in MA), table tennis maybe, I'm thinking even some places have a foosball team.

Anyone run across a High School that has a pool table on campus and a billiards team?

My son plays and is always talking about the sport with his friends and teachers. Who tell him that pool is not that hard of course. Considering how much space the schools have, it's pretty trivial to find a spot to stick a 7-8-9' table somewhere and start a billiards club or team.

we had 9 7ft valleys ...... no pool team or anything
