Cue Sealer & Gloss Coat Finish

It is from cue components

This is an absolutely excellent product which we are offering. Everyone knows that many cue builders are using automotive clear coat finishes which are extremely flammable and dangerous to ones health despite precautionary measures. You'll find that this product is perfect for finishing cues and is safe too. The finish is superb with high gloss and depth; non-yellowing and extremely hard.

So, what is this miracle product? No, it's not a miracle product; it's called modern technology.

To learn more about application, sanding techniques and other hints to building a beautiful finish, please see our Cue Finishing Online Tutorial.

Professional Sealer: It is a water borne, all acrylic system formulated for sealing porous wood surfaces. It can be applied prior to a staincoat to reduce stain absorption into the substrate or atop a stain coat. It's perfect for sealing wood surfaces. This system is UV resistant and resists yellowing as well. The wet film, when applied is milky in appearance but dries fast and clear. This product does not raise the grain.

The professional sealer dries quickly and is extremely easy to sand. It is designed to be applied wet to allow good flow into the substrate thus filling the open grain. When dry, it is easily sanded and demonstrates good filling properties. Our gloss coat finish has excellent adhesion to our professional sealer.

Our sealer is great for sealing shafts!

Gloss Coat Finish: This is a waterborne solution, oil modified, self-crosslinking urethane/acrylic system. It features high quality, excellent chemical, mar and scuff resistance and is specifically formulated for finishing wood. Because of its inherent oil urethane characteristics, the user can expect excellent flow, leveling and penetration into porous wood surfaces. Applied by spray or brush, maintaining high solids in the coating allows for good film build and fewer coats to apply.

Another nice feature is the fast dry times, which allows multiple coats per day reducing lengthy drying schedules which other systems offer.

You cannot use anything safer or better. Live longer and safer with this fine product. We offer these two fine products as a complete package; professional sealer and gloss coat finish. We have 3 sizes available; pint, quart and gallon sizes. You will not find a better professional sealer and gloss coat finish at any price. And, let's not forget it's safe too. You will be very pleased with the depth and glossy finish which you can easily and safely achieve.

Additionally, we offer a complete 100% money back guarantee for any unused portion if you are not fully satisfied. That's how confident we are with this product.

I've been using the sealer and finish coat for the past year and have nothing but good to say about it. Minimal fumes, great final finish, hard and durable

I use the same stuff but only as a sealer and use a UV for a filler over it and then a auto urethane for a final finish. I've never tried it just for a finish which is what it actually is. I get it directly from the manufacturer as I don't buy anything just re-badged from Joe. It comes in two different grades being standard and high solids. The high solids is thicker so if it is to thick for your gun you just thin with water. Has worked pretty fair so far. What does he charge for it anyway?

After a bad experience, I no longer deal with Joe. However, I am interested in water borne finishes.

Who is the manufacturer Dick? Can you post a link?

Thanks!

I already use Enduro

The one I use used to be Compliant Finishes and is now
http://www.generalfinishes.com/

I've been using Enduro. It's a great product, but I'm always willing to try something different to see if it's better.

The one thing in the Cue Components write-up that sparked my interest was the statement that it was "self cross-linking". With Enduro, you add the cross-linker in order to improve the hardness of the finish. Once the cross-linker is added, you need to use it within 2-3 days. After that, the effect of the cross-linker disipates. You can still use it, but you need to re-add cross-linker. Besides this hassle, the cross-linker itself has a ton of safety warning associated with it. Kind of negates the benifit of using a water based finish for safety reasons:rolleyes:

Hopefully, Dick will post the manufacturer of the product that Cue Components is selling. I'd like to try it, I'm just not going to buy it from Joe.

maybe?

Gloss Coat

I used it for the first time last week. I like it very much so far. The smell was minimal, and it buffed well. I used a cheap sponge brush to apply it. I should be able to improve on my next application. He lists it for $ 19.95 a pint, or $ 32.95 a quart. I heard the buyer beware stories, but Joe has always treated me well. I had a return once, and he handled it in a timely manner.

I have used Joe quite a bit thru Ebay and directly and haven't had any issues, yet. He's been very good to deal with in my dealings with him. That being said, I was told awhile back that this is what he was using:

Don't know for sure. I believe that I was told that this was the new improved version. I have had his stuff once before to try, but didn't spend much time using it. It's on a shelf somewhere in my shop. I currently prefer epoxy fill with cyno for topcoating, except for the fumes.

I use it. I love it. I use it because I don't have room for a booth to spray.

It is the same stuff ... Enduro Poly... just relabled and super hyped by Joe.
I think it is now being made by General Finishes.

It is a very good seal coat for a pool cue ... been using it for years.

Without turning this thread into something that it wasn't intended, I just thought that I'd say I've heard MANY of the stories and chose to give him a try myself anyway. I've placed several orders, and have no complaints so far. He's also got some nice deals on some items.
Mr H

I recently ordered some ivory ferrules from Joe and he had my wrong address on file cause I moved and didn't make note to send it to my new address.

Upon contacting him, he went out of his way to make sure I was well taken care of, and even contacted UPS for me.

I have bought his videos and know plenty of other people who are unhappy with Joe, but in my experiences only, if you are cool with him, he will be cool with you.

Enduro Poly

I've been in the cabinet business for the past 24 years and have been using Enduro Poly from Compliant Spray Finishes (now General Finishes) for about 12 years. I built very high end kitchens and never have had a re-call on my finish, so I would guess it would work great for pool cues. I always used a satin finish, never a high gloss so I don't have any experiance with the high gloss. Maybe I will purchase some and try it out.
