Anyone Use A Rhino Carbon Fiber Shaft?

Thanks for the feedback. The Rhino is made in Vietnam. Regardless, I think you might be confusing Japan with China. Japan did away with slavery in the 1500s and even today don't have anymore of an issue with forced labor (different than slavery) than the US.
Lol.

I bought 2 shafts from Rhino : 11.8 and 10.5. I like both.
2 small things to add :
  • the 11.8 have a small bit inside the tube that is rolling when I put it on a vertical axis. I totally forgot this when I am playing. Rhino asked me to send me a video which I never did because I am lazy.
  • I had no CF residue when wiping unlike others said, but chalk dust get on it easily. Just need to wipe it down, like every hour. (Basically like a wooden shaft)
Change chalk or learn how to chalk properly. If you're getting that much chalk on ANY shaft its most likely how you use it. I use blueMaster usually and i don't have any issues with excess chalk on the cue.

I bought 2 Rhino shafts and have no complaints. They're dead straight, super smooth, and match up with the butts I placed them on as if custom made. Now one cue was a bottom of the line Viking Valhalla wrapless black glossy cue. I didn't want to spend three or four hundred on a cue that sells for about $100. But I also had a wrapless Jacoby with a Radial pin. My other cues don't have radial, and the Jacoby maple shaft is in fine shape. So probably best to just leave it as is...but I'm really into Carbon lately and if I wanted to enjoy playing with the Jacoby, I wanted a carbon shaft. Probably that one rightfully deserves a Cuetec or a Jacoby Black shaft. But it's not my main cue. I have a Jacoby Spanish Bull wrapped Uniloc with Jacoby Black shaft and I have an RJH Custom Cue with a 3/8 x 10 Becue PrimeM shaft, and mostly play with those, so I didn't want to spend for a full price name brand shaft. Now, frankly, I'm only an intermediate player. So I won't review the Rhinos except to say that I can't tell the difference between the Rhinos and the Jacoby or Becue or a Pechauer Rogue. They all feel nearly identical to me except for the Rogue being 11.8. So I think before players trash the Rhino shafts they ought to play with one. My friend who is a pretty strong player compared to myself bought one and is using it, his first CF shaft, and quite happy with it. And he owns 2 custom made Hsunami Kielwood Shafts, but wanted to try Carbon. His game is as good as ever, possibly even better, playing with the Rhino. And since a lot of people are changing tips, he likes the original tip as do I. When the time comes to replace I'll put something else on, but as these are not my go to cues, that could be years from now.

Just got my 11.8 with 3/8x10 joint today. Packaging was not impressive, but the shaft survived so I guess it’s a non issue. It fit my McDermott almost perfectly. It may be a hair’s breadth wider than the butt at the joint but it’s virtually imperceptible. I love the hit. I Love the tip. As far as deflection, it has less than my McDermott G2 it replaced. If I was to find any complaint it would be a small chip in the edge of the joint collar just big enough my fingernail could catch it when it was off the butt. I couldn’t be happier.

Doesn't Rhino offer shafts with Uniloc and Radial pins or am I missing something?

3/8x8 will fit radial. qloc will fit uniloc. this is what Rhino told me. might msg. them to dbl-chek. they answer fast.

Rhino shafts really play great. Except the tip.
All 3 shaft from rhino. Play, break and rhino jump cue

Lets talk break cues and shaft

I'm a man of luxury and quite honestly I don't know much about the carbon shafts out on the market except the crazy ones from the big manufacturers. So my question is.....I need a good carbon break cue and which is the one to get?

Rhino? Dedicated Rhino break cue vs. using a Rhino shooting cue as a break cue?

I am quite content on using wood but I do find carbon has its advantages and that's the break shot.

I use the Rhino carbon fiber break shaft with a J&J 25 oz. break shaft butt. The only problem I had (and posted up here) was the tip kept coming off. I took it to a local shop and they glued it on so it actually stayed on. Played with it for about 9 months and changed the tip to an UltraSkin UHH, Black Heavy Hitter (Very Hard). The Rhino tip was a bit too soft for a break shaft in my (little) experience.

It's a nice set up. Everyone who plays here uses it.

Ah. Is that the older shaft? Cos the one i had recently. Dun seems to have that. Is fact. Im kind of surprise how it break with bakelite.

So man is thinking about these two:

Nebula 2 cue- it's a shooting cue and I will use it to break but the option to play with it.

Komet 2 break cue- their break cue

Shaft only- I know my pin but how is the fit on these?

It probably was an older version, but I was alone with my issue. They sent me 2 cues and both tips came off in under 10 breaks. The tips were rather soft for a break cue. Are the new tips Bakelite? How do those compare to phenolic break tips? I had the J&J break cue with phenolic tip. It was too hard.

I thought about upgrading my break shaft of my BK-2 to a CF shaft.
First I thought of Rhino but the width at the joint is 21.5mm which is wider than the BK-2 butt (21.3mm), I also emailed them regarding the joint pin to make sure that it fits Uni-Loc but their answer is not 100%.

So I looked to see if Predator sell their break shaft but couldn't find it on their web site. Then I thought selling the BK-2 and buy a Break-Rush but that felt stupid, the butt construction of both cues is similar so what's the point of selling mine for 200-300 and pay 800 for a new one before shipping and taxes. And I think that the Break-Rush is ugly...

Finally ordered the Raven CF break shaft for $199, I'll post my thoughts after I'll get it and use it for a few times

There's a lot of cf break shafts on Ali/Temu for under 80bux.
