Anyone wanting to reach The Angry White Man

I was thinking that but wasn't for certain. Thanks for clearing that up. Maybe Bill Clinton should still be serving time for having Monica blow him?

Nope...too late to do that dance. Your posts said what they said including
"Why bash the guy for selling drugs to make a "good" living."

I hope your kids DON'T get into drugs and booze although the odds are significant that they WILL in spite of your purported teachings...just like MINE did..to the extent of a near fatality.

And THAT....sir...is "why bash the guy for selling drugs..."

Had I been able to find out who sold to my son, there would have been two people who would have done time...the dealer for dealing...and ME for assault with intent to inflice grave bodily harm.

If you want to save face for a momentary lapse of good judgment then your next post should UTTERLY RETRACT what your earlier posts PLAINLY STATED and go on record to the effect you realize that illegal drugs are having CATASTOPHIC consequences in this country and around the world.

I'm sure you are a good guy at heart and we all have momentary lapses in judgement but you need to MAN UP on this one because dancing will get you nowhere.

Jim

I probably shouldn't get involved with this thread but I got to say that you are making a statement that transfers risk. We live with risk everyday as we all know. But to not assume risk makes us irresponsible. I am deeply sorry for your troubles and hard times that you have went through with your family. But all too often we find it is easier to blame someone else than ourselves.

Drugs are illiegal and may never be anything but. However, as Iba7467 stated we make our own decisions. Yes, we may be in a state of weakness but that doesn't give us the right to cast the stone away. We should look inward for fault before we ridicule others for their actions. From the beginning of time to present there have always been vultures and predators that prey upon the weak and the weary. Nothing has changed and nothing ever will.

I am a person that assumes risk. And I also believe that if the people of this country would do more "risk assumption" than finger-pointing then things would be much different. I know this may not be the best analogy but please consider this. Say your significant other was being unfaithful and you found out about it. Obviously you are going to be upset but who would you be more upset with. Your other or the person they were fooling around with? I think we both know the answer to this. Definitely your 'other' because they should have known better. And again I agree that this is not the best analogy but it's late. Surely, alcohol is legal but is it OK to blame the bartender that you are a drunk and have lost all that you once owned?

In no way am I attacking you so don't misconstrue what I have written. It just irritates me when people are irresponsible and put blame elsewhere.

Best wishes to you and yours! Happy Holidays!!!:)

If I'm not mistaken it's the blower, and not the blowee, that's in violation of the law.

would MONICA be punished by "hard" time...

Here is an explanation of Sodomy according to the UCMJ...

It is unnatural carnal copulation for a person to take into that person?s mouth or anus the sexual organ of another person or of an animal; or to place that person?s sexual organ in the mouth or anus of another person or of an animal; or to have carnal copulation in any opening of the body, except the sexual parts, with another person

source: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/punitivearticles/a/mcm125.htm

I wonder if cigars fall under carnal copulation?

The military has a law under the UCMJ that states you cannot engage in oral or anal sex. If a man were having oral sex with his wife, does he deserve to be kicked out of the military for breaking the "law"?

We are REALLY getting far afield but no, the U.S. Supreme Court banned all such laws in 2003.

U.S. Supreme Court decision Lawrence v. Texas (2003) invalidated anti-homosexual sodomy laws in the fifty states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

There may still be REGULATIONS in the military but that is not federal law.

Wow... I'm getting quoted more than Einstein!

ribdoner what was Fayetteville like back in the day? I heard it was pretty wild. I have to get out of this city before long. I am planning on moving this summer. Did you ever play pool at Little Reno poolhall? That place is still open.

I saw a guy get stabbed the other night at a brand new poolhall in Fayetteville. The guy got stabbed twice in the side of his chest and then once in the neck. Not sure if the guy lived or not. The owner put the poolhall right smack in the damn ghetto. And like they say... lay down with dogs you get fleas. Put a poolhall in the bad part of town and bad things will happen.

It's definitely still on the books in military law. But I've never heard of it being enforced... kind of like the law in the military that says you can't cheat on your spouse. How's that for a law? If cheating on your wife whenever you please is wrong.......... I don't wanna be right. I'm obviously joking.

I'd never get married.

Gary, I appreciate your views and the respectful manner in which you presented them. However, with equal respect, I must disagree.

Yes, everything in life is a risk that we all must assume out of necessity.

But that reality does not suggest that all laws should be repealed and that we revert to the "laws of the jungle" which would create a Mad Max existence.

It is inapprporiate to ignore, condone or contribute to ANY crime but CERTAINLY not crimes of violence...whether the violence is administered by a punch or a pill.

I'm all for sympathizing with the strife of the underprivliged but certain people deal drugs because they are too damn lazy to go get a job and work hard like the rest of us (and not too many dealers pay a whole lot in taxes so they are leaching off the rest of us).

I'll extend sympathy at the correct time...when the dealers get out of jail but that sympathy will likely be short-lived because the Lortabs will find their way into the dealer's pocket in...oh...about a week after they get out of the slam.

Thanks again for your views and I hope you accept mine in the spirit of respect that I accepted yours.

Regards,
Jim

But enlistment in the military is voluntary and those who join agree to subject themselves to the rules and regulations (not "laws" technically).

So, if you don't like the rules...don't join.

But for U.S. citizens not in military service, the courts FINALLY extinguished the laws you point out are so preposterous.

Regards,
Jim

Everyone here that has bet on a pool match or participated in a calcutta has broken the law. Cue stick raffles are illegal in some states. Ever put gas in your car with the ignition on? That one's federal. Must serve 85% of your sentence.

He is incarcerated for a non-violent crime. The law that imprisons him is immoral. If you knew him, he'd love to hear from you. I hate drugs and what they do to people. I don't endorse their use or want to be around anyone that has anything to do with them.

Doesn't mean he should be in jail and it certainly doesn't invalidate his standing as a human being stuck in a bad place.

F'VILLE (circa 66) was like DEADWOOD. The "leggs" caught hell. Fights were plentifull but knives or guns, IIRC, never came into play. It was mostly macho shit that happened when boys were bored and brainwashed into thinking they were the baddest mo fo's that walked the planet.

I played all the bars on the strip (HAY ST??). Winning between 10 and 30 a night was common but I'd spend apprx. 5 or 10 drinking. Having jingle in my jeans also kept me in action with the F'Ville "girlies". There was a pool hall (can't recall the name) and I've got a FOGGY memory of sweating a game between a couple of older civilians who I wanted no part of. They were players....

It sounds nuts but 40 yrs later most of my memories are fond and fuzzy:) .

They actually revamped Hay St and it's the nicest looking place in Fayetteville now. Very few bars and no strip clubs at all. There are still plenty on Bragg BLVD though.
