APA 9 ball 75-0

I think a guy named Gabe Apollos has done it a couple times. He plays out of JOB's right outside of Nashville. APA national champ two times.
I'very seen him play once or twice, I'd love to play him sometime...... if he were blindfolded and had both hands tied behind his back, seriously the guy is a beast, him and this other APA player Mastermaker. If either of them are on your team you can probably count on at least one win. I suspect The APA gets a little boring for them

But it's not the power 8's or 9's I worry about, it's the 4's that are so far under ranked they could be 7's or 8's in a lot of places

The secret is in APA is to make a ball on the break and be able to see the next ball in order.

And this is different than what other league of 9 ball that you know of? Are there other leagues that you make a ball and not see the next one yet you are still the favor at that point?

We can even expand this "wisdom" to, the secret is being able to make the correct ball and being able to see the next available shot to cover every pool game ever played.

I'm a 7 in 8 ball and an 8 in 9 ball and shoot ok for the most part but I can't begin to compete with some of the 7's and 9's at the APA events in the Mini's no matter what kind of spot I would get.

Being those are the highest levels of the games one can correctly state that you have 7's in 8ball and 9's in 9ball that are barely that level and then some that are phenomenal players but have no where else to go. So if they are amateurs, then they can be the best in the world still shooting as 7's and 9's in their respective games.

I beat a very good friend of mine 55-1 playing an APA race of both us being a 7. I had 2 B&Rs, a few breaks where either I made a ball (or multiple) and then played safe or didn't make a ball but didn't leave him a shot, as well as he made the one ball he did but didn't get position on the next ball.

The funniest thing about it is before the match started he told me I had no shot of winning lol. Ah the power of fake confidence through beer :D

Errr....it's vastly different than most/all other leagues/variations of 9b, since there is no pushout permitted in APA 9b. If you break and hook yourself on the lowest ball, you kick at it, masse at it, or jump at it, assuming you can jump with your regular playing cue since jump cues / switching to a break cue to jump are not permitted. Or you tie something up etc. But yes...it is vastly different than other forms of 9b in that manner. The pushout gives you the opportunity to maintain the lead / favor if you have the ability/knowledge to push into a shot that you excel at and/or your opponent does not.

That is correct.

I just won our regional top gun tournament for the 6-9 tier
My two toughest matches were against 6s
Granted my break sucked as I tried to control the one so much I forgot to make s ball plus it was 8 foot tables that seem different as to the wing bsll not going in as regularly

Figured it out by the final tho
Won 75-14

Thank you for answering his question for me. You explained it very well.

I've seen an 8 skunk someone but never a nine. The league here doesn't even do the Pepe Le Pew Skunk patches anymore. boooooo. Any who congrats good player or week I know it's not easy. Well done man.

Last August at the APA team event I played a 9 from Japan named "Jungi". He was a cute and giggly little chubby guy who laughed and even bowed to me as we shook hands. I figured I'm getting 10 balls so let me dust off this guy real quick and then grab a fast beer before my next match. Lol...NOT. In his best broken English he asked me if I wanted to rack our own I said yea sure. He won the lag and all of a sudden the giggling stopped and I didn't get out of my seat until the score was 51-0. I had nothing to shoot at and finally lost 75-9. Well there went a fast $20. I said to myself how does this guy ever lose so I watched him in his next round against some Mexican dude from Florida who beat him. I just shook my head and walked away. I'm a decent 8 but I just can't compete at that level no matter how many balls I would get spotted.

That's Junji Mochinaga... he's one of the top amateur players in Japan. You're right, he doesn't look like a poolplayer at all, but he's a real monster at the table. I've played him in an APA match once and made it close, but then he turned on the jets and I ended up watching the rest of the match from my seat. Last season, his league points per match average was like 19.5/20.

Ive seen 75 to less then 10 multiple times and against higher skill levels too, even had a couple of them, but never seen a 75-0. Im sure it's possible. Couple packages and good safes agaisnt an SL1

Best of I've ever seen was my buddy James.
He won 75-2 and the two points was because he hung a 9 ball.
It was a clinic and on a 9 footer.

Not sure if that's more impressive on a nine footer or not

Because if your playing a real Low skill level then chances are they will never make s bsll unless it's hung

Still great tho
