APA dues to go up by 25% in '09. What do you want for the Extra $5.00?:

APA dues will go up from $20 to $25 in 2009 according to their magazine.
5 bucks won't kill anyone, but 25% increase without doing it over a few years seems steep to me. They say improvements will be a website where players can check their stats. Maybe raising it two bucks or $2.50 would have been smarter?

QUESTION: WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT FROM THE APA FOR THE EXTRA FIVE DOLLARS? (Be constructive please. If you can't be constructive, don't be nasty.)

Improved player stats

The player stats as they are now only show the number matches played, the number of matches won and the winning %, for lifetime and the current session.

I would like to see the results of individual matches, including the opposing player. I realize that this would be a task of uploading data, but considering that $5 X 250,000 = $1.25 million, it should be doable.

The stats are a new feature for the local APA and are only available to current members. The site is down at the moment, maybe they are adding what I asked for. :p :D

That would be great, also.

I don't think that either of us will get what we're asking. :(

That was constructive :grin-square:

But for only $5??

Yea, well, cheap hookers and blow.

On a serious note, TAP does provide player win/loss and win percentages, and overall winning percentages. You can also go online and check teams standings online weekly.

Without fail, anytime a guy has a good session, wham!, everyone complains the player should be moved up. It really serves no purpose other than to do that. I will say it's kind of nice to know if you are matching up with a SL5 who is 2-9 or 9-2 for the session. You can usually see the difference at the table.

What would I like to see from the APA?

How about a more efficient way for teams to report team wins and losses, innings, etc. and payments to the league office?

It's a flat out joke that in this day and age someone has to drive around town before the match, and then late at night to drop off paperwork and cash. Most of us at work fax or email info daily, and we should be able to do the same to report to the league office.

Simply pay by check a week in advance, or for the entire session up front, or use a credit card, and email or fax in the recorded results from the night. People could do this that night or the following morning. Being team captain is awful enough, and is a thankless job that nobody on our team wants and the league would be wise to make life as easy as possible.

Our last team folded because I wanted nothing to do with being team captain of our APA team. Out of seven other players, three of who were former team captains, nobody wanted to take over, and our team dissolved. One less team for the APA.

I played one session and saw that is was not for me. All i was doing was paying money to be out playing pool with my friends. I had a 100% winning record never lost a match for about 13 weeks, won the top gun and never got anything but a bunch of 5 cent patches. To me its just greed (IMHO) Sorry i wont play it anymore! We are starting a money league and i am looking forward to that.

If you ran it maybe. Or 5 minutes with Trudeau running it...

Or, one 1.25 million dollar tournament scheduled for the end of 2009 with zero entry fee open to x number of players qualified through a nationwide points system starting at the beginning of 2009 including any and all added money tournaments. That would get everybody playing for a spot and everybody wanting their tournaments involved.

Thanks for the input, and congrats on your 100% winning, Mr. Top Gun. I am currently filling out a cut off sleeve jean jacket with patches, and would rather pay 5 cents than really earn them if you can spare 'em.

A list of the known and suspected sandbagers. That way, league operators can start to keep a better eye on them.

Though, I don't know if it is fair to list suspected sandbaggers, so i change that to known ones...

it's not what we want for the extra $5.....it's what the APA will do with it. My bet is for the top dogs to get a little (or not so little) raise.

the APA pays out a very small portion of what they take in. what I want is to double the prize money in Vegas. might not ever help me, but it will make the trip there (possibly) actually let the winners leave with some $ after expenses. as it stands now, I don't see how anybody ever breaks even.

JMHO and I'm sticking to it !

I hate to FLY!! I cant help it I frequently have dreams of my flight going down and waking up right before the splat!

So, I wish they would hold more big $$ or hell even little money tournament locally, or move that big freaking national tourney to other venues that might entice me to drive there.

Mississippi, Memphis, Miami, ClearWater, etc...

My suggestion and wish.

For all APA players to pay the money and not ***** and complain about it.
Support the sport and or your league or get out of the way of someone who will. For petes sake it's the price of a gallon of gas, is it really that painfull?
