I learned that there's a bar in my town that pays for the table time, weekly dues, membership dues and the bar tabs for the pool team that plays out of their establishment. This is the first instance I've heard of this sort of relationship. It'd be cool if more bars would do this for the teams. I'm curious if anyone knows of any other instances of this happening?

In ny in bellmore the guys richie that owns the bar we play APA out of pays for our tables and league dues but not the bar tab. Im shocked that a bar owner would pay for drinks the APA or other league systems are a great source of revenue for the bars.

i could be wrong about the bar tabs. i was in a drunken stuper last night when someone told me about this situation.

sounds like a deal to me, nothing like that around here. There is a in house 9 ball league (not apa or bca) and the house gives everyone a free drink on league night.

Wake up, wake up your dreaming.:D WOW what a deal!!!!

Here is a little snippet from the APA Team Manual

34. PLAYERS RECEIVINGINCENTIVES
It is contrary to the best interest of the League and it leans toward
professionalism for members to solicit or accept incentives to play for a
location or for a team. Teams or players may face disqualification for soliciting
such incentives. Incentives include, but are not limited to:
? free drinks
? free table usage
? payment of all or part of League fees
If a Host Location offers the same benefit to all members participating out of
that location, it is probably acceptable. Special deals to just a few highly
skilled players are not acceptable.

In my area I pay for my team everynight, as long as I pay for everyone
on the team I am allowed to do it, you figure it costs like 400.00 for a session, just find a local bussiness that might want to advertise, and you tell them you will wear there t-shirts when you play, as well in cities and vegas.

You may want to check your bank and credit card statements, you may have been the one that paid for the tab, haha!!

Most of the people on our 9 teams get free table time, any day.

And if anyone has a sponsor, I can make the shirts! :)

My 9 ball team has its dues paid for by the bar we pay for. I've never seen a bar make anyone pay for table time. Pay for your own drinkies. However, playing with the nitwit (are you out there Chris????) we had on our team, getting free drinkies would have made it more palatable.

this is all good to know info. i dont think anyone of this happens in the town where i live and we have a huge league system. however there's tons on young professionals who go out and drink every night at the bars so its not like the establishments necessarily need to do anything extra (such as pay for an apa team) to have any impact upon their business.
