apa is making changes

We've never had a lot of that stuff that many of you have - MVP, Grand Slam, Rackless...
I know the APA offers patches and recognition for lots of this stuff. All we've ever really had
is Top Gun and the original APA Grand Prix tournament.
What's MVP? that is, I know Most Valuable Player - but what is it?

That is a shame is on your LO. Chances are they are just cheaping out being the patches are available, even at higher level tournaments. I have heard of really cheap LO's that do offer them make the players buy them.

MVP - Straight from their website.

MVP Is calculated by the number Of points earned divided by the number Of points available (PA). Example in 8-Ball: In every 8-Ball match, you have 3 points available to win. If you play 10 matches, you have 30 points available to win (3x10). If you win a total of 13 points in those 10 matches then the calculation is: 13 / 30 = 0.43 or 43%. This means that you won 43% of the points available (PA) to you during the session. Example in 9-Ball: In every 9-Ball match, you have 20 points available to win. If you play 10 matches, you have 200 points available to win (20x10). If you win a total of 162 points in those 10 matches then the calculation is: 162 / 200 = 0.81 or 81%. This means that you won 81% of the points available (PA) to you during the session. Unless otherwise stipulated in the Local bylaws, ties will be broken in the following order: Total number of matches played, win percentage, performance points, lifetime win percentage. The top 100% of players within your Division Tier (or just Division if not tiered) will be displayed on the MVP List. Players must play 8 matches with their team before becoming eligible for MVP standings and awards.

I am not sure if they do it everywhere, but here it is for the entire area, not just your division. So you have to look at all the other divisions listed in your area to see where you stand.

What you just described as MVP we call top gun in my area.. Just like you described it covers the entire league...not just your division....and its also broken into each skill level bracket. We hold a top gun tournament for all who are eligible with the winner getting cash back and entry into singles regionals....and a plaque if i am not mistaken....ita been a while since I won one lol.

Correction..top gun does pertain to each division . Dont recall what the winner receives....think its a plaque.. He takes a number of the top finishers of each division and hold the top gun tournament..there all participants receive a top gun patch and the winner of each bracket receives cash back and a trip to singles regionals.

We also have MVP. The captain of each team fills out a form the lo provides and you choose who the MVP of your team is. That person receives a plaque with his name on it saying he is the MVP of whatever team it is.

We dont pay for patches in our area . It's kinda nice to get some patches that show recognition for achieving certain feats. 8 on the break and 9 on the snap really dont mean much to me since I consider those feats mostly luck.

I always like receiving rackless....i beat the lo..mini slams and I so want a grand slam patch so bad lol because that is a real feat.

We have a separate top gun tournament too. I am pretty sure MVP is done automatically on the apa website though. https://members.poolplayers.com/Main/Main.aspx

If you click on division standings and then scroll below the team standings you should see MVP stats. I assumed it was the same for everyone, but maybe different leagues have different pages...
