APA is unfair

That is one of the main reasons I stay away from leagues.

I play to "WIN" and I expect the rest of the team to do the same.

Also, I expect everybody on the team to pay attention to the table and not be standing around BSing and playing on their phone when their opponent is at the table.

Social hour can be held AFTER we destroy our opponents.

FWIW, I only played BCA for two years when I lived in Grand Forks, ND many moons ago. We won the championship two years in a row. I had the highest rating and highest statistics for the league both years.

Excellent choice for you, and kudos to you for knowing the difference and being able
to recognize it. Leagues not for you, you require a much higher level of competition
for your own satisfaction.

A social league can be competitive and have potential rewards without losing sight of having fun being the foremost goal. I play with a group of friends that had stood by a simple rule that has served our team well for about 25 years now: have fun, and no drama.

We know we're going to have a good time with one another every week. We play to win, but not to lose sight of the fact that we can still have fun if we lose. When we've made it to Vegas, we always take the same approach - and enjoy the vacation together without stressing about how well we do in the tournament (that's not too say we don't give it our all).

I feel sympathy for those players and teams we come up against who take it too seriously - simply put, the odds of making it to Vegas and making any real money are so slim that if that's the primary goal of a team and they look at those nights they fall short as 'not fun,' they've chosen the wrong seeing for their pool.
