APA membership application questions?

I did not express myself clearly. The information may be interesting to the APA for advancing their business purposes. I was using the phrase in the usual sense of "it's damned obnoxious for you to ask me that unnecessary question about my personal stuff."

Well, you're well aware the APA isn't much interested in being fair and equitable.

Or maybe "I'm not answering that unnecessary question about stuff I consider personal." I don't find it obnoxious to ask an unnecessary question. Most questionnaires, surveys, and forms do. That's the only way to get the information you seek, is it not (besides Google and Facebook, of course :devilish:)? Before our area went all electronic, hardly anyone ever filled out the optional stuff, so most people are capable of just skipping it. In other words, APA doesn't have a right to know, but there's nothing wrong with asking the question and you have a right to leave the answer blank. That doesn't fit my idea of "obnoxious" at all, let alone "damned obnoxious".

BTW, the occupational question isn't even on the current paper application. The photo in the OP is from an old one, which was updated when the membership fee was increased.
